2023 SAG Awards nominations: Emily Blunt, Eddie Redmayne and Bill Nighy lead British stars

A host of British stars have been shortlisted for the 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Emily Blunt, Eddie Redmayne and Bill Nighy are leading the homegrown talent for this year’s nominations, which were announced Wednesday morning in Los Angeles ahead of next month’s ceremony.
Emily, 39, is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Series for her captivating role as Cornelia Locke in The English.

She will face stiff competition in her category against Julia Garner (Inventing Anna), Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer – Monster), Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) and Jessica Chastain (George & Tammy).
Bill, meanwhile, will be competing for best male actor in A Leading Role for his film Living.
Directed by Oliver Hermanus, the film focuses on Nighy’s character William, a civil servant rebuilding post-WWII London in 1952.

Talented: Eddie Redmayne, who stars as Charlie Cullen in ‘The Good Nurse,’ was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
His character discovers that he is suffering from a terminal illness and quickly sets out on a quest to find meaning and purpose in his life before dying.
He will face Irish actor Colin Farrell in The Banshees of Inisherin, who is leading the film nominees.
Also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in Motion Picture, The Banshees of Inisherin is about two lifelong friends (Farrell and Gleeson) who ” reach an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming… Consequences for both’.

One to watch: He will face off against Irish actor Colin Farrell in The Banshees of Inisherin, leading the film nominees
Kerry Condon is nominated in the Supporting Actress category, while Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan, also from Ireland, are nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
You will face off against Eddie Redmayne, who stars as Charlie Cullen in The Good Nurse.
The Oscar-winner stars in the true-crime thriller alongside Jessica Chastain, who plays a struggling single mother struggling to make ends meet with her demanding career as a nurse at a New Jersey hospital.
She initially forms a good relationship with a new nurse (played by Eddie), but after several of her patients, who appeared to be doing better, died under unusual circumstances, she suspects him of foul play.
Women Talking will compete against The Banshees of Inisherin in the Best Cast category.

The film, based on the 2018 novel by Miriam Toews, follows the true story of men who drug and rape women in a Mennonite colony.
Claire Foy leads the cast, which includes Rooney Mara, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Frances McDormand and Ben Whishaw.
Meanwhile, The Crown is nominated for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Cara Delevingne is a member of the cast of Only Murders In The Building, nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
The SAG Awards will be broadcast live on Netflix’s YouTube channel on February 26th.
