2022’s best NFL players

The 2022 NFL regular season has already provided fans with a multitude of high stakes action-packed encounters featuring the very best footballing athletes that the elite level of sports has to offer.

With the regular season now reaching the latter stages of the campaign ahead of the playoffs, fans of the popular sporting league have been treated to a plethora of enthralling encounters and various impressive individual displays.

Some players have showcased their superstar qualities to carry their team to numerous impressive results throughout the course of the season as well as becoming involved in the MVP race for their respected role and increasing their team’s chances of enjoying a prosperous run in the post season.

These are some of the top performers so far from the 2022/23 NFL regular season in no particular order:

  • Jalen Hurts (QB) – Philadelphia Eagles:

Heading into the new NFL season, there were a few raising question marks centered around Jalen Hurts’ overall ability to operate as the main offensive threat in an impressive yet largely under-utilized Philly offensive line.

However, with the Eagles reigning supreme atop the NFL power rankings and NFC standings with an impeccable 11-1 record, Hurts has proved all his doubters wrong which is also represented in his season stats of 2,940 yards with 20 Touchdowns scored and only three passes picked off (which ranks as the joint lowest in the NFL).

Hurts has become heavily involved in the MVP race and could be the latest name to steer the Eagles back to their first Superbowl appearance since their 2017 winning season, with the Eagles ranked at +200 to win the NFC and Hurts at +165 to claim his first ever regular season MVP award in the latest NFL odds on the BetUS sportsbook.

  • Josh Allen (QB) – Buffalo Bills:

Many fans of the NFL had the former Wyoming Quarterback as their pick to win the MVP award before a snap of football was played during the offseason and, so far, Allen has lived up to all the hype expected of him throughout the opening few months of the campaign.

The Bills are currently tied for the best record in the AFC, alongside the Kansas City Chiefs, at 9-3 with Allen once again announcing himself as one of the league’s most elite QB’s.

With a total of 3,406 yards, 25 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions thrown, Allen is still well within the MVP discussion and is hoping that his outstanding regular season play will translate over to the impending post season with the Bills being widely considered as the quintessential favorites to win the Superbowl this season (as long as they do not lose the coin toss in OT).

  • Patrick Mahomes (QB) – Kansas City Chiefs:

At just 27 years of age, Mahomes has already carved out a hall of fame worthy career which has included a Superbowl winning performance and MVP showing back at Superbowl LIV, with the Texas Tech QB also claiming a regular season MVP award in 2018.

Mahomes’ dominance has continued to escalate over the past few years with the Chiefs making another Superbowl appearance the following year and three more AFC Championship games during his tenure as the franchise’s starting QB.

2022 has once again remained another highly productive and dominant year for Mahomes despite the Chiefs losing star wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason, with Mahomes still throwing for the most touchdowns in the NFL at 30 and only eight picked off passes from 3,808 yards.

  • Justin Jefferson (WR) – Minnesota Vikings:

Moving away from QB’s, another star offensive threat that has become a hot candidate for the MVP award this season comes in the form of the Vikings’ star receiver Justin Jefferson who has dazzled fans all season with his highlight catches and endzone celebrations.

Jefferson ranks third in the league for receptions (88), second for yards among receivers (1,277) and tied for ninth on touchdowns scored with the 2020 late first round Draft selection quickly establishing himself as one of the top ranked wide receivers in the NFL today.

Alongside Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, Minnesota currently occupies top spot in the NFC North division (much to the dismay of Packers fans everywhere) and second in the NFC behind the aforementioned 11-1 Eagles, with Jefferson playing a major role in elevating the Vikings back to Superbowl contention.

Some other notable star talents throughout the 2022 NFL season have so far included Tennessee Titans Running Back Derrick Henry who is widely regarded as the best RB in the league and a major role in the Titans’ dominant stint over the AFC South.

Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs has also emerged as a major MVP candidate thanks to his impressive link up play with Josh Allen at QB, with one final candidate including Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa who has greatly improved his production as his team’s main offensive threat thanks to the Dolphins acquiring superstar caliber receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason.
