US Mega Millions Draw: How Australians Can Win a $1.5 Billion Jackpot
A $1.5 billion windfall could fall into the hands of an Australian player in a US Mega Lotto draw.
Last Saturday’s $1.1 billion US Mega Millions draw didn’t have any big winners so she upped the ante as Australian lottery players have until 12:00 AEDT on Wednesday to get in on the action to participate.
Those wanting a punt can do so through the lottery office, putting them in the running for the biggest wins the country has ever seen.
The US Mega Millions draw (pictured) has upped the ante with a whopping $1.5 billion on offer for Australians, with the country’s lottery players having until 12pm AEDT on Wednesday to take part in the action
Lottery bureau CEO Jaclyn Wood told 7News the jackpot draw is a great opportunity for Australians to become extraordinarily rich.
“If an Australian won this jackpot, they would become Australia’s biggest lottery winner of all time,” said Ms Wood.
“The amount is staggering and I’m sure I could speak for many when I say we hope an Australian gets a piece of it.”
The game operates locally, with the lottery office buying matching tickets for the Mega Millions game in the US on behalf of Australian entrants.
Players choose five numbers from a pool of one to 70 and one number from a pool of one to 25.
“This is an eye-watering amount and I’m sure I could speak for many when I say we hope an Aussie gets a piece of it,” said Jaclyn Wood, CEO of the lottery office
In order to hit the big roll, all five numbers must be correct, as well as those from the Megaball.
Australians can choose or randomly generate their numbers for the third largest game in US lottery history.
You also have the chance to win a $25 million jackpot, with eight smaller prize tiers up to $1.4 million on offer.
The lottery office said there is a 1 in 24 chance that any entry will win even the smallest amount.
The Mega Millions game is drawn Tuesday 11pm EST (Wednesday 3pm AEDT) in the US
