A Short Guide to CBD and THC

If you have a habit of reading the labels of products, then you must have read that CBD and THC co-exist in CBD oils. Now the question is, what are CBD and THC and what do they do when they co-exist.

The actual number of cannabinoids is far greater than the number of commonly known ones. Up until now, over 113 cannabinoids have been identified and documented. However, only two are more widely known to laypeople – CBD and THC.

What is CBD?

CBD, for beginners, is a primary cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It stands for Cannabidiol and is known for its numerous benefits. Many are backed by scientific research, while a few lacks scientific proof.

What is THC?

THC stands for Tetrahydrocannabinol. Where THC comes from is a commonly googled question. THC is also extracted from the hemp or marijuana cannabis plant, just like CBD. However, the two vary in effects.

Both CBD and THC have almost the same mode of action. They induce their effects by targeting the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) of the body. This system has cannabinoid receptors which are the integral component of the mechanism.

Psychoactive Properties

Cannabis is not a stereotypical psychoactive compound. So, its components, the THC and CBD, have a lot more to offer than leaving your eyes red or making you a stoner. However, some of the cannabinoids are responsible for producing a high. These include THC and its analogues such as Delta-8 THC, HHC, and THC-O.

The psychotic effects of THC are believed to be due to a certain way it interacts with the receptors. Scientists believe that THC fits into the receptors like puzzle pieces. This perfect connection generates intense physical and psychotic effects.

On the other hand, CBD does not have active psychoactive effects. So, having a pure CBD-containing product can not get you high. Also, THC concentrations below 0.3% fail to produce a high, so you can consume a CBD product with less than 093% without getting high.

Drug Testing

Drug testing includes the legality of THC and CBD, where you are being tested and the nature of the test. After consumption, CBD and THC appear on drug testing for some days. Many drug tests are targeted explicitly for THC.

So, even if you consume CBD products, only you will test positive for THC because all CBD products have trace amounts of THC. This trace amount is insufficient to cause a high but will show on a drug test. If the drug test is the requirement of a job and is inevitable, then you can politely explain the nature of the use to them.

Bottom Line

The main difference between CBD and THC is their effects on the human body. While THC intoxicates, CBD does not alter the mental state and allows you to enjoy its benefits in a stable condition.

Both these components of cannabis have widespread benefits among the masses. To benefit from these advantages, many people look to buy CBD with discount codes. In this case, you can get high-quality CBD products with attractive prices.
