A teenager who recently arrived in the UK from India has been found dead in a house in Croydon.

The 19-year-old victim was found with stab wounds at a residence in Ash Tree Way on Sunday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem will be carried out in due course and officers are working to notify her next of kin.

A 23-year-old man who was taken to hospital with a minor head injury was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Police said the suspect and victim were known to each other and that no one else was being sought in connection with their investigation.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 19-year-old woman was found dead at a house in Ash Tree Way, Croydon

Police and ambulance were called to the house at around 4.10pm on Sunday following reports that a woman had died at a house in Ash Tree Way.

She is believed to be an Indian national who “recently” arrived in the UK, police said. Officials are trying to contact their next of kin.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation, including anyone who saw or heard a disturbance at the Ash Tree Way address on Sunday afternoon, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 4546/29. Oct. to call.
