- A man claims he found a “bag of drugs” while spearfishing
- Quinn is fishing when a package drifts toward his boat
- He uploaded the bizarre find to his TikTok and Instagram
A fisherman claims to have discovered a bag filled with drugs in the sea while spearfishing.
Quinn, who hails from Coffs Harbor on the north NSW coast, was spearfishing offshore when he came across a huge package bundled into a rope net.
The net appeared to contain large blocks of cocaine wrapped in black plastic.
He uploaded footage of the extraordinary find to social media.
“If anyone needs cocaine, I’ve got enough,” he wrote in the caption of the TikTok clip.
Taking to Instagram, he joked, “I’m getting that little bit closer to retirement guys!”
‘Not the price catch I expected today, that’s for sure!’
Fisherman Quinn claims he spotted a “bag of drugs” in the ocean while spearfishing off the north coast of New South Wales
The Fisherman’s discovery comes as New South Wales’ love affair with cocaine has exploded over the past 20 years, and the city’s appetite for the drug has become increasingly “insatiable”.
Figures released this year by the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics showed a 12.5 per cent increase in cocaine use and arrests over the five years to 2020, while drugs such as ecstasy had fallen in popularity.
The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission suggests that the country’s cocaine user base is “widening” with growing social acceptance of the drug.
Drug makers of cocaine in South America see Australia as a lucrative market for large exports due to its high price of around $300 a gram on the streets of Sydney.
Some social media users joked about the fisherman’s shock discovery.
“From ‘spearfishing’ to ‘line fishing,'” wrote one.
Another said: “Congratulations on early retirement.”
“We’re fishing a week at a time…no sleep,” joked a third.

Others warned Quinn of the risks of finding the batch and urged him to call the police.
“Don’t even touch. Trust me, there’s always someone watching,” one man replied.
“It’s not even worth touching,” commented a second.
The TikTok clip has gone viral, accumulating more than 700,000 views.
