A-list celebrities and sports kings attend the World Cup finals

A-list celebrities and sports royalty like David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Novak Djokovic and Khabib Nurmagomedov attend the World Cup final in Qatar… and even Elon Musk makes an appearance!

A-list celebrities and football royalty took part in sport’s greatest show as France and Argentina both battled to win their third World Cup crowns.

Lionel Messi’s first-half penalty put Argentina ahead as they dominated the game – before Angel Di Maria doubled their lead.

Posing in front of a Hublot sign, Usain Bolt donned an Argentinian jersey ahead of the game as the Jamaican sprinter supported the country in a bid to end their fear of the World Cup – having last won the trophy in 1986.

Meanwhile, David Beckham, who has landed in hot water for his role as ambassador to Qatar in recent weeks, posed for a photo on social media alongside his son Cruz.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was pictured alongside Ibrahimovic.

British comedian Joe Lycett, in response to Beckham allegedly accepting tens of millions of dollars in money, said he would shred £10,000 on a live stream. It turns out he was indeed destroying counterfeit money, but released a program on Friday night examining various issues with the World Cup.

Paul Pogba was also present at the Lusail Stadium as he attempted to offer moral support to his teammates after being one of several French stars ruled out ahead of the tournament with a knee injury.

The Juventus midfielder was photographed in a hospitality suite alongside a pantheon of sporting royalty, in the presence of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic folded his arms with the former MMA fighter and smiled as he posed alongside Pogba and the martial artist. To his right was his former boss at Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Also in the picture was tennis superstar Novak Djokovic and former PSG star Javier Pastore, who was there cheering on his compatriots in Argentina.

Elon Musk was also seen elsewhere, landing on the ground before kick-off. The Tesla and Twitter owner posted a video on Messi’s social media platform of himself pushing his penalty past the distraught Hugo Lloris.

The Qatar World Cup was marked by regular celebrity sightings in the crowds, with the big and good all jetting off to the Middle East for the biggest event in sport.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino declared the tournament the “best” edition of all time ahead of the last two games.

He thanked “all the workers and volunteers involved who helped make it the best World Cup ever”.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Macron, France’s President, stood alongside Infantino in the final.

The two were photographed laughing and joking ahead of the game – with Macron looking significantly less enthusiastic after watching the first half.

As various celebrities enjoyed the delights of Lusail Stadium, Shakira – who split from partner Gerard Pique this year – posted a reminder on social media to help people remember Amir Nasr, the Iran international who is on death row in the country became his role in the protests there in the fall.

“Today at the World Cup final, I just hope the players on the field and the whole world remember that a man and a fellow footballer named Amir Nasr are on death row just for speaking out for women’s rights,” she tweeted.
