Awkward moment, lingerie-clad model dressed as ‘sexy nun’ confronted by churchgoer: ‘This is a cathedral, show some respect’
- Charlie Bakhos was at St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney’s CBD on Monday
- He saw a woman dressed as a “sexy nun” posing for an unauthorized photo shoot
- He ordered the group to leave and asked the photographer to delete images
- Footage of the encounter circulated online, with many praising Mr Bakhos
A model dressed as a “sexy nun” and her photographer were clumsily thrown out of a Sydney cathedral after a churchgoer caught them in the middle of a photo shoot.
Charlie Bakhos had been at St Mary’s Cathedral in the city’s central business district on Monday when he spotted a woman lightly dressed in lingerie, knee-high white socks, high heels and a nun’s habit.
Three others were with the woman and are said to have taken pictures of her when Mr Bakhos began filming and ordered them to leave the church immediately.
“I don’t know who gave you permission to take pictures like this here in the cathedral,” he is heard saying in the recordings.
‘Take your things and get out of here.’

The model is seen turning away from the camera as those coordinating the shoot then awkwardly scramble to pick up their gear.
Mr Bakhos then asked the photographer to delete the images from his camera.
“There’s a sign outside the door saying no photos can be taken here without permission,” he told the group.
The photographer then showed himself deleting the photos from his camera before Mr Bakhos left.
The footage was circulated on Twitter, with Mr Bakhos being praised by many for taking a stand against the group and many saying sacred places “must be respected”.
Mr Bakhos ordered the photographer to erase the images from his camera while the group packed their gear
“Extremely disrespectful,” one person commented.
“Why are nuns always sexualized?” another wrote.
“Absolutely disgusting and shameful,” added a third.
A spokesman for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney said the cathedral should be respected regardless of a person’s faith.
‘st Mary’s Cathedral is a sacred place for the Catholic Church in Australia and many others who seek peace and comfort within its walls. The cathedral has been visited by three popes and three Catholic saints and is a place of welcome for all, especially the poor, disadvantaged and disenfranchised,” the spokesman told Daily Mail Australia.
“The unfortunate reality, however, is that as Australia’s mother church, it is a regular magnet for malicious acts of vandalism, property damage and obscene behavior.
“We accept that not everyone shares our beliefs, but all people of religious belief should be able to expect their places of worship to be respected, or at least not treated with ridicule and subjected to indecent acts.
“Respect for those who might be different from yourself should be a value that unites all Australians.”
