A new poll shows Meghan Markle is more unpopular with Americans than ever before, with an approval rating of MINUS-2

Meghan Markle’s popularity has plummeted in the United States. A new poll shows her approval rating in her home country is now in the red.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have tried to restore their image in the media. Meghan returned to her old life as a Hollywood star as she celebrated with the Kardashians, Adele and the Biebers at Beyonce’s 42nd birthday party this week.
But their comeback didn’t go as hoped, according to a new poll by Newsweek This shows that only 31 percent of Americans like her while 33 percent don’t, giving her a net approval rating of minus 2.
It’s a jarring fall from the U.S. public, who liked the duchess by a plus 23 percentage points in December, according to a separate poll by the outlet. Many were moved by her stories of fighting the royal “machine” as well as the hardships she endured as a divorced, non-white member of the world’s most famous family.
In June, her popularity fell as her approval rating was plus six percent.
Her husband’s degrading biography “Spare” was met with backlash on both sides of the Atlantic after its release in January, but his image has suffered less than his wife’s, currently enjoying an approval rating of plus 12 percent. The last time the poll was conducted, Harry’s approval rating in the United States did slightly better, at 18 percent.

Meghan Markle once boasted an approval rating of plus 23 in her home country, but since then her approval rating has fallen to minus two percent

Prince Harry remains afloat with the American public, but his approval rating of 6 percent is a far cry from the 38 percent he enjoyed in December
Both Harry and Meghan struggled to begin their new lives in North America after their public exit from the royals in January 2020.
And the latest survey, conducted between September 3 and 4 of 1,500 U.S. adults, found for the first time in five months that more Americans dislike Meghan than like her.
Their net approval rating is minus two percent after the couple’s Netflix documentary “Harry and Meghan” failed to impress many American viewers.
Fewer than a million viewers tuned in to the first episode, compared to more than 2.4 million in the UK – a far more sparsely populated country where the Sussexes are even less popular.
Just days before the show aired, Newsweek released a poll on December 5, 2022 that showed Meghan’s popularity was plus 23, while Harry was popular as he had an impressive net approval rating of plus 38.
In January, about a week after Harry also released his scandalous memoir Spare, Harry fell a staggering 45 points to minus 7 – while Meghan fell 36 points to minus 13.
It bottomed out at minus 17 in another poll in February – as Americans had a lower opinion of the former actress than of the disgraced Prince Andrew, whose friendship with serial pedophile Jeffrey Epstein led to Andrew’s removal from public life was banished.
Harry tried again to achieve streaming success with his latest Netflix show, Heart of Invictus, but failed. His philanthropic efforts with the Invictus Games failed to crack the platform’s top ten charts following its August 30 release.
Their deteriorating status in the US also caused them to be widely ridiculed after South Park parodied their opinion that they were seeking “privacy” in February.
The sketch reportedly sparked anger within the couple’s household, with Meghan reportedly “upset and overwhelmed” by her portrayal in the disrespectful cartoon.

In February, South Park parodied the couple’s disagreements over the quest for “privacy” in a skit, which reportedly left the Duchess “upset and overwhelmed.”

Until recently, however, Meghan was enjoying a resurgence in popularity in the US, with her approval ratings at plus six percent in June.
In the same poll, Harry’s 12 percent gain came as 39 percent of American adults liked him, compared to 27 percent who had a negative opinion of the prince.
After Meghan’s high-profile appearance last week on Beyoncé’s birthday, where she met up with some celebrity pals and barely shied away from the cameras, the outlet conducted another study into the demi-royal’s favor.
Body language expert Judi James told MailOnline that she “exuded confidence as a celebrity influencer” as she looked more than happy in public.
James said Prince Harry’s wife appeared to return to her showbiz roots with “practised looks at the camera, Tig Girl poses and confident smiles” during the star-studded occasion.
Rumor has it Meghan is close to a massive commercial relaunch of her Tig blog to compete with Gwyneth Paltrow’s $250 million Goop brand.
A return to Instagram is also said to be on the horizon – experts believe she could earn a million dollars or more from each sponsored post.
Her embrace of a new Hollywood lifestyle has led to speculation that she wants to escape Harry’s pious victim narrative and “lead with love,” while he hopes to benefit from his charitable efforts by being seen as a leading global philanthropist.
