A famous wedding photo spot famous for its rolling hills and lone tree has closed its doors to Queensland newlyweds after being “loved to death”.
One Tree Hill on the Woods family farm in the rural town of Maleny south west of the Sunshine Coast is famous for its lone cherry tree and the stunning backdrop of the Glass House Mountains.
However, the Woods family reluctantly shut down access to their beloved farm on February 1 after receiving a threatening letter from the Sunshine Coast Council.
“We received a letter from the council saying we are breaking the law because we are a rural property so obviously not a commercial business,” Francis Woods told ABC.
Mr Woods explained the letter was a threat as the council had not yet imposed a fine.

A popular spot for newlyweds, the site is famous for its lone cherry tree and rolling backdrop of the Glasshouse Mountains (pictured).
The Sunshine Coast Council said several complaints had been made about wedding ceremonies at the property over the past two years – a claim Mr Woods denies.
It is considered unlawful to use the farm for events, including weddings, unless planning permission is sought.
The farm charged photographers a $50 entry fee and has donated more than $50,000 of the funds raised to local charities.

Sunshine Coast photographer Luke Middlemiss (pictured) said he said goodbye “with a heavy heart” after spending over 15 years photographing One Tree Hill
“The council doesn’t even want to mediate … so we decided as a family that it was more of a headache than it needed to be,” said Mr. Woods.
Sunshine Coast photographer Luke Middlemiss told Daily Mail Australia he said goodbye to the location “with a heavy heart” after more than 15 years of shooting on One Tree Hill.
“As a photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing the love and connection between countless couples at One Tree Hill,” said Mr. Middlemiss.
‘[The] This iconic place has a special place in my heart… The breathtaking sunsets, the panoramic views of the hinterland and all the special moments shared here will always be dear to my heart.
“While I understand and respect the family’s decision to close One Tree Hill, it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to this sanctuary and all the memories made here.”

It comes after the council sent a threatening letter to the Woods family alleging One Tree Hill (pictured) is being unlawfully used as a commercial enterprise
Hinterland Tourism representative Marlene Murray said the iconic site has been “loved to death” by countless locals and tourists alike.
Ms Murray said locals were disappointed with the decision but understand the closure as the farm has been overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people hoping to catch a glimpse of the beautiful site.
“It’s now a victim of love,” Ms Murray said.
Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the Sunshine Coast Council for comment.
