According to YouPorn, the Overwatch League is hurting their viewership

YouPorn shared some revealing graphs on Thursday, explaining that YouPorn saw a drop in website traffic during last week’s Overwatch League broadcasts.
On the opening day of the Overwatch League, YouPorn saw a 9 percent drop in viewership from the start of the show. The trend continued until the end of the third game. YouPorn experienced lower than normal access rates throughout the first week of broadcasting.
Whether or not Blizzard would take this as a good sign, it points to a successful first week for the Overwatch League. Not only does the Overwatch League distract people from watching porn, it had more than 400,000 viewers in day one and over 10 million in week one.
Overwatch itself currently dominates not only esports, but coincidentally the porn industry as well. On January 9th, Pornhub announced that Overwatch characters were the most popular searches for game characters in 2017, and YouPorn’s Overwatch-related searches increased by 30 percent when the Overwatch League was announced.
YouPorn has no negative feelings towards the Overwatch League and had this to say: “We are excited to see who will win and be the first Overwatch League champion to receive a trophy and a cool $1 million bonus. Of course we are too. I’m excited to see how you celebrate and will be keeping an eye on site visits before, during and after visits.”
However you celebrate, it’s clear that the Overwatch League is making waves, and that’s just the beginning.
