AFC Fylde are threatening to report Chester to the police and FA after an extraordinary dressing room riot following last weekend’s National League North clash.

sports mail has learned that Fylde claims that up to 20 Chester fans tried to storm her dressing room after her 1-0 win at Deva Stadium and that her 67-year-old Kitman was abused by the home team’s assistant manager Colin Woodthorpe became. a former Fylde trainer.

Fylde Kitman narrated to Steve Cowell sports mail On Monday night, Woodthorpe repeatedly berated him and called him “dog breath” in the dressing room of the away game before charging him “like a raging bull” as he tried to leave the ground in a van.

Woodthorpe spent seven years as a manager at Fylde before being sacked by them two years ago, which resulted in him successfully suing the club for wrongful dismissal. The 53-year-old clashed again with his former employers earlier this summer when the club reported him to the FA over allegedly offensive messages on social media, but no action was taken.

Chester admits there was an incident involving his fans after a heated three-red-card game before Fylde scored a last-minute winner, but denies the fans entered the dressing room. Woodthorpe is said to have admitted to berating Cowell but has denied charging him.

“I opened the dressing room door to start loading the van and about 20 Chester fans crowded in trying to get to us,” Cowell said sports mail. “Luckily there were three police officers there and they dragged her away before they could do any major damage. The police did a great job.

“I was loading the van and then going back to the dressing room to clean up when Woodthorpe came at me out of nowhere. He just kept yelling, “Fuck off, fuck off, fuck off, friggin’!” It was terrifying, but the police pushed him away again and shut the dressing room door.

“I never leave a premises until I’ve swept the dressing room but the police have told me to leave for my own safety. I got to the van and he came at me again like an angry bull. He tried to climb into the passenger seat and hit the van in the process. 45 minutes after the game he was furious.

“I was badly shaken. I had to stop on the way home to compose myself. I still feel vulnerable. I am 67 and have grandchildren. I’ve worked in football my whole life and I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Chester sources acknowledge Woodthorpe confronted Cowell after the game but insist the altercation took place outside the dressing room. The former Chester forward was reportedly furious with Cowell for opening a fire door which he says caused the initial flare-up by allowing home fans to get close to visitors. Chester’s safety officer has also reported to the club that Cowell broke protocol by opening the fire door.

Woodthorpe, who also played for Norwich in the Premier League, told the club he called Cowell a “dog body” and followed him to his van as he was unhappy with the state in which the visitors had left the dressing room.

Rather than hit the vehicle, Woodthorpe says he rapped on the side of the van to get Cowell’s attention and ask why he was leaving given the messy state of the dressing room.

Fylde officials were unhappy with aspects of their treatment at Chester throughout the afternoon, particularly the fact that home fans repeatedly chanted obnoxiously at their manager James Rowe in the presence of his family.
