Al Brown, the actor who played corrupt police Major Stan Valcheck on HBO’s classic crime series The Wire, has died at the age of 83.
The film and TV actor died in Las Vegas on Friday after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease, his daughter Jenny told TMZ.
Brown’s moment in the spotlight came on The Wire season two, when his minor feud with a dockworker’s union leader led to investigations by the Baltimore Police Department and the FBI into Greek drug traffickers.
Brown started acting relatively late as his first known role was not until 1995 when he appeared in Homicide: Life On The Street.
