Alan Shearer slams Chelsea’s first-half performance against Man City as ‘not nearly good enough’

‘That performance is unacceptable…they were just PATHETICAL’: Alan Shearer criticized Chelsea’s first-half performance against Man City as ‘not nearly good enough’ after conceding three goals
Alan Shearer has issued a scathing assessment of Chelsea’s first-half performance against Manchester City in Sunday’s FA Cup third round clash – particularly considering their toothless attack.
After going 3-0 at the break against a much-changed City side, Shearer showed his disappointment with the Blues’ performance at the Etihad, claiming a lengthy injury list was no excuse for the dismal performance.
Graham Potter’s side are without numerous first-team stars but after narrowly losing 1-0 to City on Thursday they were 3-0 down at the break after goals from Riyad Mahrez, Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden.

Alan Shearer published a scathing assessment of Chelsea’s first-half performance
“This performance is unacceptable from Chelsea’s point of view,” said the former Newcastle legend. “I said they needed some energy, character, all those things.
“I don’t care how many injuries you have on your team, you can always go out and put in a shift. They don’t have it and it’s embarrassing from their point of view.
“Moving forward was so bad. They were downright pathetic in forward positions. Where’s the movement? They had nothing in advance at all. Everything was sideways or even backwards.
“They have to give the fans something now, show they care about this football club because those 45 minutes weren’t acceptable.”
