Alec Baldwin gets slammed for reposting Peter Frampton’s gun control message

‘You literally shot someone’: Alec Baldwin is being slammed on social media for reposting rocker Peter Frampton’s gun control message after his fatal shooting of the cameraman on the Rust set

Alec Baldwin has faced criticism on social media after he reposted a gun control message – following his own deadly shooting on the set of the film Rust.

The actor, who was charged after the death of Halyna Hutchins, posted on social media following the mass shooting at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, in which six people lost their lives.

The post, written by rocker Peter Frampton on Twitter, read: “26 years ago a gunman entered Dunblane Primary School in Scotland, killing 16 children and a teacher. The British government responded by passing tough gun control laws.

“In the more than 9,400 days since there has been a total of 0 school shootings in the UK.”

Baldwin reposted it on his Instagram without a caption – but the post drew criticism amid the actor’s accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021.

One person wrote: “cauldron, pot” – a phrase used to indicate hypocrisy.

Another said: “It’s a mental health issue, not a gun issue! If Alec had firearms training this poor mother/wife would be alive today!’

A third added: “You shot someone with a prop gun you mismanaged and dared to stand up to overturn an American right to self-defense.”

Another said, “Didn’t you kill someone?” while a fifth commenter said, “Probably this one should sit out.”

Soon after the picture was posted, Baldwin’s comments were limited.

This comes after the Santa Few District Attorney, who charged Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter for accidentally shooting Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, resigned from the case after a series of setbacks.

First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced today that she will be replaced by two local attorneys, Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis.

In a statement, she said she decided to step down to focus on other cases in the state.

With the announcement, Carmack-Altwies becomes the second prosecutor to step down from the case, after special prosecutor Andrea Reeb withdrew earlier this year.

Baldwin’s team had complained that she was serving as both prosecutor and Republican legislator in his case.

Carmack-Altiwes eagerly indicted Baldwin in January, more than a year after the fatal shooting.

In interviews, she proudly spoke of holding the actor to the same standards as everyone else.

In addition to the involuntary manslaughter charge, she charged Baldwin with a felony firearm improvement misdemeanor.

Those charges could have landed him in prison for up to five years if convicted.

But it didn’t become law until May 2022 – six months after Baldwin accidentally shot and killed Hutchins on the film set. A judge rejected this.
