Ally McCoist broke down in tears as he recalled meeting Roy Keane on the beach in Qatar.
McCoist, who was a commentator for ITV during the 2022 World Cup, decided to go to the beach for a swim on his day off.
However, upon McCoist’s arrival, he spotted 51-year-old Keane sitting on a sun lounger in the back corner, headphones on.
McCoist broke down in tears as he recalled the time he met Keane on the beach
McCoist said he considered pulling a chair alongside the reclusive Irish but decided against it, thinking Keane would “kill” him.
Instead, McCoist went to say hello to the 51-year-old and told him not to worry and would leave him alone.
But it was Keane’s reaction that had failed McCoist. Recalling the encounter on talkSport, he said: “I had a belter when we were at the World Cup.
“We had the afternoon off and I thought I’d walk along the beach for an hour because I like swimming and I love the beach.

“So I go down to the beach which is right next to the hotel. I’m telling you, there was nobody on the beach, nobody. It wasn’t a huge beach, but there was no one there.
“There were about 80 sunbeds. But there was a sun lounger at the top on the left and Roy sat on it. He had his headphones on. He was the only person on the beach.
“I figure there’s no risk that he wants to see me. At first I thought I’d pull my sun lounger right next to him, tell him I’m staying and see where it takes us.
“But then I thought he killed me. I walked all the way along the beach to see him. He has his headphones on and opens one eye. He looks at me and takes off the left ear of his headphones.
“I said you’ll be pleased to know I won’t sit next to you and I won’t leave you alone, I just wanted to say hello. He looked at me, closed his left eye and plugged his left earphone back in and gave a thumbs up.
