An emotional David Beckham says he hasn’t “slept” or “eat” after being blamed for England’s exit from the 1998 World Cup when he was sent off against Argentina, as he tells the story in a new Netflix documentary retold

An emotional David Beckham says he neither “slept” nor “eat” after being blamed for England’s exit from the 1998 World Cup as he retells the story in a new Netflix documentary.
The soccer star, now 48, was sent off against Argentina after kicking Diego Simeone in the back of the leg and punching the Argentina captain after he pushed him to the ground.
A new Netflix documentary is set to release next month that tells the inside story of David Beckham’s career.
Sensational excerpts from the program show his wife Victoria, legendary Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, his parents and his former club and England team-mates Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand.
And the documentary appears to go into unprecedented depth as it covers the stresses and strains that have weighed on Beckham and his family throughout his professional career.
Of exiting the 1998 World Cup, he says: “I don’t think I’ve ever talked about it, just because I can’t.”

Netflix’s new release titled ‘BECKHAM’ will be a four-part series and will arrive on their platform on October 4th

“I have not eaten. I have not slept. It weighed on me that I never got to know myself.’
The streaming giants’ new release titled ‘BECKHAM’ will be a four-part series and will land on their platform on October 4th.
The documentary promises the former England international’s rise from “humble working-class beginnings” to his glamorous days at Manchester United, Real Madrid and beyond.
Other clips show heartwarming home videos of their children and their wedding day, as well as resurfaced interviews with the star in his prime.
From the trailer alone, it’s clear that a large portion will focus on his relationships off and on the field.
After England’s defeat in the round of 16, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid winger watched as England lost the game on penalties.
The footballer was constantly booed and jeered by fans of opposing clubs in the following 1998/99 season, with a burning effigy of him and death threats among the worst backlash to his red card.
Beckham also touches on the infamous dressing room incident between him and Sir Alex Ferguson, where the United manager allegedly kicked the England star.
As he discusses the fracas with an interviewer, he appears to admit that he “attacked” his manager after the incident.

Netflix promises: “The series will take you on a rollercoaster ride and tell a surprising, personal and definitive story about one of the most famous and most studied athletes of all time.”
This includes Beckham’s relationship with his wife Victoria – as they pursue their family life through his career.

Speaking about the beginning of their relationship, she revealed that they were initially advised to keep the relationship a secret – and even met in parking lots to avoid public scrutiny.
She says: “My manager kept saying, ‘Try to keep it a secret.’
“So we met in parking lots – and it’s not as shabby as it sounds!”
David jokes about her comment: “Elegant!”
And she reveals she’s in the middle of the “circus” – with shocking footage showing one of her children crying as fans hit her passing car.
In the clip, David – who is driving while Victoria sits in the back – says: “It’s all right, Buster. ‘You can’t get in the car.’
Looking back, Victoria adds, “It’s entertaining when the circus comes to town, right? Unless you’re there.”
Since retiring from the sport, “Becks” has embraced a number of ambitions, such as his role as owner at MLS club Inter Miami.
Earlier this summer, the club secured one of the most surprising transfers in football history when Beckham managed to convince Lionel Messi to join the club.
