Apex Legends Players Call Celestial Sunrise Event ‘Shameless’

It seems that Apex Legends players aren’t too impressed with the game’s upcoming Celestial Sunrise Collection event, calling the final reward “shameless.”

Respawn recently announced the new Celestial Sunrise Collection Event in Apex Legends. The event, scheduled to start on January 24th, sees the introduction of a new LTM Hardcore Royale in which players will be put to the test.

Additionally, 24 limited-time cosmetic event items will be introduced, including legendary skins for Octane, Pathfinder, Caustic, Ash, and more. Players who unlock all 24 cosmetic items will receive the “Jadeite Vengeance,” a new reactive Peacekeeper skin.

The problem is that these items are not just the ones that players earn through games, players have to purchase the item chests with real currency. The cost to get everything in the collection appears to be around $160.

Players have previously pointed out that the highest in-game currency you can buy at once is $100, meaning players will need to buy multiple Apex Coin currency packs to buy out the event.

Technically, that means a hefty price tag for the event’s final item, the Peacekeeper reactive skin, Jadeite Retribution.

Some players took to Reddit to express their frustration with the event. User fairhurtfoyer said: “First it was heirlooms for $160. Expensive but fair enough, these are unique items for each Legend.

Then we got “progressive” Legend skins that were sold as Myths. Also $160 and another way for Respawn to expand and have more CE each season. There were more setbacks. So now of course we get a recolor a reactive Peacekeeper skin that was awarded in the Battle Pass many seasons ago (S3).”

The player went on to say that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if more recolors were introduced for existing heirlooms and skins in the future. Another user called the move “manifestly shameless.”

The Apex Legends Celestial Sunrise Collection Event runs through February 7, 2023.
