Arsenal have held further talks with Atletico Madrid to try and lower the loan fee for disgraced striker Joao Felix.
Felix has been heavily linked with a move from Spain in January after struggling to retain a regular place in Diego Simeone’s side this season.
The Gunners are looking to reinforce their attacking division in the upcoming window and hope they can bring the Portuguese to London.

Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix has emerged as a potential loan option for Arsenal in January
The north London side are interested in bringing Felix on loan but the Spanish club have asked for £13m plus additional fees, bringing the deal to around £16m for the remainder of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are hoping to negotiate that fee down to organize a potential move for the Portugal international – who has three goals and three assists from his 12 appearances in the Spanish top flight this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are on the lookout for a new attacker and hope to add both Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk to their line-up during January’s transfer market.
The Gunners have been actively following Shaktar Donetsk star Mudryk but face competition from London rivals Chelsea for the Ukrainian’s signature.

Felix would only be available on loan, although the charges being asked also apply to Arsenal

Chelsea want to hijack Arsenal’s deal for Shaktar Donetsk star Mykhailo Mudryk
Felix joined the Spanish club from Benfica in the summer of 2019 for around £120m – one of the most expensive deals ever – but has struggled on the Madrid side.
His performances during the World Cup – one goal and two assists – suggest there is more to come from a player once praised so highly.
Given that Felix has a contract with Atletico until 2026, it will cost a significant sum to win it and therefore Premier League sides believe a loan would be more realistic.

The forward has fallen out of favor in Diego Simeone’s side throughout his time at Madrid
