Aston Villa have signed highly-rated 19-year-old forward Jhon Duran from Chicago Fire for $22m following his breakthrough season in Major League Soccer, which saw him scouted by Liverpool and Benfica and earning his first caps for Colombia
Aston Villa have signed highly-rated 19-year-old Colombia international Jhon Duran from Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire in a deal valued at up to $22 million.
A number of European sides – including Liverpool and Chelsea – have been linked with the striker, who scored eight goals in 27 games for The Fire last season.
Having already played for Colombia three times, he is now the second Chicago Fire teenager to move from the MLS to the English Premier League, after Gabriel Slonina, who joined Chelsea in August.
