Aurelien Tchouameni apologizes to Real Madrid fans on Twitter after Los Blancos fans rioted at his appearance at an NBA game in Paris while his side clinched a 3-2 win over Villarreal
Aurelien Tchouameni left Real Madrid fans furious on Thursday night after he was spotted at an NBA game in Paris while his side clinched a Copa del Rey victory.
The Los Blancos midfielder took to Twitter to issue a humble apology, in which he admitted he hadn’t “done the right thing” towards the club’s supporters.
The 3-2 win over Villarreal was most notable for Carlo Ancelotti’s altercation with his winger Rodrygo, although he later denied rumors of a feud.

Tchouameni picked up an injury in a game against the same opponents in a La Liga duel in early January.
He was therefore not expected to play on Thursday night and is believed to have two weeks off, but fans clearly believe he should be there to support his side.
The Frenchman watched the Chicago Bulls defeat the Detroit Pistons
After receiving backlash for his decision, Tchouameni apologized on Twitter, writing: “I apologize to my club, the coaching staff, my team-mates and the Madrid fans for my presence at an event at a time when the… cup went .
“I’ve been following closely what happened at Villarreal the whole time, but I haven’t done the right thing. Very sorry.’
The French midfielder was present as the Chicago Bulls defeated great rivals Detroit Pistons 126-108 at the Accor Arena in Paris.
On the surface, an oversight by Tchouameni might not seem so outrageous, but things have been far from smooth at the Santiago Bernabeu lately, which might explain the fans’ anger.
Real Madrid have worked hard in the cup game after losing 2-0 in the first 45 minutes of their last 16 encounters.
Goals from Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao and Danny Ceballos saved all three points for Los Blancos but it was a worryingly lackluster performance from Ancelotti’s side.
Furthermore, they were beaten by Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup and have suffered two recent LaLiga defeats – to Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal – which has cost them their claim to first place in the Spanish top flight.
