Australian Open: Andy Murray rolls back years with INCREDIBLE point to break Thanasi Kokkinakis

Andy Murray rewinds the years as he wins an INCREDIBLE point to break Thanasi Kokkinakis before putting his ear to the Australian Open crowd… as the home favorite smashes his racquet in anger
Andy Murray lit up the Australian Open on Thursday with an unbelievable break point.
The British veteran, who faced home favorite Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round in Melbourne, had two sets and a collapse but rolled back the years and used his great defense to secure a breakback.
A hugely pumped-up Murray, 35, then put his finger to his ear and gestured at the crowd to indicate he wanted them to show their appreciation by raising their voices – as a frustrated Kokkinakis smashed his racquet angrily to the ground.

Britain star Andy Murray, 35, turned back the years to make Thursday’s Australian Open shine

Murray used his superb defense to break home favorites Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis at Margaret Court Arena before perking up the ears of the crowd in a pumped celebration
After Murray knocked a serve return down the middle, Kokkinakis slammed a forehand down the line that got Murray scrambling and opened up his body to send another forehand down the opposite side, which Murray somehow kept.
The 26-year-old Kokkinakis then had three opportunities to smash the three-time Grand Slam champion out of the way, but Murray predicted where he was going each time and his third return pushed Kokkinakis back from the net to the baseline .
When Murray returned his shot, baseball-style, Kokkinakis – the reigning men’s doubles champion along with compatriot Nick Kyrgios – clearly fired his nose and fired a forehand into the net, throwing his bat down in disgust and disbelief.

Murray recovered from that position and three Kokkinakis smashed to somehow win the point

Two-time Wimbledon champion Murray defeated 13th seed Matteo Berrettini in a thrilling five-set thriller and nearly five hours to reach the second round, while Kokkinakis edged past veteran Fabio Fognini in the first round.
Murray left the Australian Open in tears four years ago, thinking an upcoming hip surgery would prompt his retirement.
But beating Berrettini with a metal hip was among the greatest triumphs of his career and will hope to anger Kokkinakis by coming back after two sets and winning on Thursday.

And supporters were quick to take to social media to praise Murray’s excellent recovery.
One Twitter user said, “What a total legend!” while one simply added, ‘Insane!!!!’.
A third wrote: “Sir Andy says it’s not over until it’s over.”
