Australian viewers are obsessed with Taskmaster.

The new show, in which a group of five comedians attempt to complete a series of challenges, is a hit.

Twitter erupted on Thursday with excited fans who couldn’t get enough of the local show, which was hosted by controversial comedian Tom Gleeson.

“Australian television needs more of this! Less mafs and whatever channel 7 is pumping out. Keep it up Channel Ten Taskmaster is so refreshing,” one viewer wrote.

Another viewer liked Tom and the format.

“Great job Taskmaster, great host, co-host and team for Season 1. I think there should be an ‘Ashes’ series Aust Vs UK: Taskmaster in the next few years,” wrote another.

“Much better episode of Taskmaster tonight. Seems the flow of the show is better with better banter from everyone,” they wrote.

Taskmaster premiered last week on February 2nd, starring some of Australia’s best-known comedians.

The Project’s Tom Cashman starred alongside Utopia’s Luke McGregor and Nina Oyama, Jimmy Rees and stand-up favorites Julia Morris and Danielle Walker.

Based on a hit UK show, Variety Australia reports that the format has sold to 12 countries including New Zealand, Sweden and Denmark.

It also has a YouTube channel, an app, and a board game.

A US version, launched by Comedy Channel in 2018, did not resonate with viewers and was canceled after one season.

It was later rebooted on the CW in 2020, but was pulled off the air after just one episode due to poor ratings.
