Australia’s Covid isolation period will be reduced from seven days to five and mask requirements on planes are over, PM announces
Australia will reduce its mandatory Covid isolation period from seven to five days and masks on planes will end, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced.
Mr Albanese and the Prime Ministers met on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the proposal.
The leaders appeared divided on the issue before the meeting began.
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has been leading the charge for the rule change for some time, arguing it is time to treat Covid-19 like any other disease.
He was backed on Tuesday by NT Chief Minister Natasha Fyles, who said she was open to treating the virus like the flu.
“I think we all have to adapt measures to living with Covid. We’ve had a pretty significant flu season here in the Territory… and there weren’t any legal requirements for it,” she said.
