This dog stunned everyone with his independence and strong-willed behavior on a recent cross-country flight.

John Krajewski’s Shiba Inu named Sputnik managed to escape her kennel mid-flight by chewing through the metal lock AND the zip ties while she took a full dose of sedatives.

Sputnik did it all on a six-hour cross-country flight, roaming around in the luggage hold after tasting freedom.

As the plane door opened, Sputnik stood atop the cargo dock, acting as if she expected the airline to roll out the red carpet.

This came a few days after Delta Airlines offered a woman $1,800 after she lost her dog at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport in Georgia.

Paula Rodriguez booked a flight from the Dominican Republic to San Francisco with her dog Maia for a two-week vacation.

While in Georgia, Rodriguez was soon informed that her tourist visa “did not meet the requirements.”

During this time she was unable to get her dog back and was told she would have that opportunity once she landed back in the Dominican Republic.

According to the New York Post, Delta promised to keep an eye on Rodriguez’s six-year-old dog while she awaited deportation.

Her new flight home was scheduled for 10:20 a.m. the next day, but Maia didn’t show up.

Due to US regulations, Rodriguez was not allowed to stay at the airport to wait for her dog and had to take the flight home to Punta Cana without her.

She hoped the airline would take her dog on the next flight back to her home, but that never happened.

Rodriguez filed a report after Maia was nowhere to be found in Punta Cana. Lawsuits were subsequently filed at Atlanta and San Francisco airports. Staff also went to local animal shelters, but still no sign of the dog.

At this point, Maia has been missing for 72 hours. She still hasn’t been found and Delta Airlines reached out to Rodriguez to offer $1,800 in compensation, which her lawyer called an “insult.”

In a statement, Delta said the money was not an “offer of compensation” and claimed that they “showed compassion through many actions, gestures and communications with our customer.”

Rodriguez is offering a $1,000 reward for information about where Maia might be.
