Baltimore Ravens cornerback Brandon Stephens is discharged from the hospital after falling “acutely ill” at the team hotel just hours before the Week 18 Finals against the Cincinnati Bengals… after Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest
The Baltimore Ravens announced that cornerback Brandon Stephens fell “acutely ill” at the team hotel ahead of their game in Cincinnati on Sunday and was taken to a hospital for a check-up.
Stephens stayed in Cincinnati for treatment but is now back in Baltimore and feeling better, according to the team’s statement Wednesday.
“Baltimore Ravens CB Brandon Stephens became acutely ill at the team hotel on Sunday morning and was taken to a local hospital in Cincinnati for an evaluation,” the team said in a statement.

The team released a statement on Wednesday confirming that Stephens was hospitalized
“He stayed in Cincinnati for treatment and has since returned to Baltimore where he is feeling better and in good spirits.”
Head coach John Harbaugh confirmed it was a “disease-like issue” and insisted it hadn’t scared the team.
“It’s a health issue, a disease-like issue,” coach John Harbaugh said later on Wednesday. “I don’t think anyone was really scared that something really bad would happen, but it was surprising because he was ready to play and then it suddenly appeared in the morning.”

Stephens, 25, has started four games for Baltimore this season, including the two before last weekend.
Overall, the 2021 third-round pick has played 15 games this season after starting in 11 games last year.
He has recorded 115 tackles (80 solo) and 11 pass breakups in 32 career games.
The Ravens are playing again in Cincinnati in their playoff opener Sunday night, and Stephens’ status for the game is still unknown.
With Stephens and Marcus Peters both inactive last weekend, cornerback Daryl Worley made his first start of the season at Baltimore’s secondary school.
Things are looking more promising for the Ravens, however, as Harbaugh told reporters he expects Peters to be in the field this week.

Stephen’s gameday illness came just days after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during a Monday night football game against the Bengals.
Hamlin was revived after collapsing on the field and was hospitalized after attacking Cincinnati wide receiver Tee Higgins.
The 24-year-old was discharged from a Buffalo hospital on Wednesday and returned home after a remarkable recovery.
