Barcelona target Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha as a replacement for Ferran Torres

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has reportedly become a target for Barcelona on a free transfer as the winger enters the final months of his contract.

Zaha was able to negotiate a preliminary contract with foreign clubs from earlier this month before his Palace deal expires at the end of the current season.

The Ivory Coast international has made 445 appearances for the south London club in two spells, scoring 89 goals.

Zaha’s free availability has reportedly caught the attention of Barcelona as the Catalan giants look to bolster their attacking options despite their financial constraints.

The winger has emerged as a summer transfer target, according to Fichajes, with Barca officials seeing him as a replacement for the disgraced Ferran Torres.

Torres made a dream move from Manchester City to Barcelona last January and was Xavi’s first signing as head coach.

The Spain international has been linked with a move from the club just 12 months after signing, with Xavi unimpressed by the club’s return on his £46.3million investment to date.

Torres has scored just five goals in 19 games for Barca this season, three of them in the Champions League against Viktoria Pilsen.

The 22-year-old has only completed the full game once in 15 LaLiga games this season, making eight appearances on the bench.

Barcelona are reportedly hoping to recoup most of their expenses at Torres as the club tries to navigate their financial crisis.
