Belinda has previously said she is “completely heartbroken” after her bandmates Tiffani Wood, Sally Polihronas, Katie Underwood and Monk went their separate ways.

“Then you stand on the side of the road and ask yourself, ‘What do I do now?’ How do I get my life back in order?’

This came after Belinda told the No Filter podcast that all the women in the group were “shocked” to learn they were breaking up to allow Sophie to pursue a solo career.

“I noticed changes in Sophie and in management. “Strange things were happening,” she said.

“But I never, not once, thought, ‘The band is ending and one of us is going to play solo.'”

“It didn’t occur to me until I was in our management’s office and saw everything.”

Belinda went on to say that she, Sophie, Sally, Katie and Tiffani were all very close in the beginning and “fooled around a lot.”

But things quickly changed within the group of friends as they became famous among pop stars as “Australia’s answer to the Spice Girls.”

Belinda said Sophie became “distant” and began to “disassociate herself” from the other women as she got her own photo shoots and “got the best outfits in film clips”.

Bardot was Australia’s biggest girl band after forming at Popstars in 1999. Although they had success with hit singles like Poison, the group fell apart after just a few years and disbanded in early 2002.

The band’s former manager, David Caplice, claimed Bardot broke up after an “explosive” argument backstage before their Mardi Gras performance in 2002.

The manager told News.com.au at the time that things had become “controversial”.

“I remember towards the end the girls became very hostile towards each other as jealousy and power struggles got out of hand,” he said.

“This explosive encounter was the death knell for the band.” “Bardot could have been the biggest girl band in the world.”

However, members have since denied that an explosion occurred.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Monk for comment.
