Biden revealed to Jay Leno that Hunter had refurbished his Corvette – which was in the garage with documents

The Justice Department said Thursday that a second trove of classified documents belonging to Joe Biden, which his concerned son likely had access to, was found in the garage of his Delaware home.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that “a small number of documents bearing classified markings” were found in a closet in the DC offices of a Biden-affiliated think tank. The discovery was originally made on November 2 just before the midterm elections.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday the Justice Department was informed Dec. 20 that classified documents and official records were located in Biden’s Wilmington garage near his Corvette and that FBI agents took them into custody shortly thereafter.
During an appearance in Jay Leno’s garage in 2016, then-Vice President Biden boasted that his sons, Hunter and Beau, had received a complete engine rebuild from the Corvette as a Christmas present.
In addition to the documents found in the garage, a separate document was found in a library in the Wilmington home. The same house that Hunter’s driver’s license was linked to in 2018 and 2019.

Biden told a crowd at a Michigan rally in January 2014 that his son’s engine had replaced the engine in his car as a Christmas present for him in December 2012, shortly after Biden won re-election alongside Barack Obama, according to Politico.
Officials have not said how long the mysterious documents are believed to have been in Biden’s home, nor did they say at what point during the Obama administration they were created.
The classified documents are believed to have contained information about Iran, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and personal family information, including documents relating to the funeral of the Bidens’ late son, Beau.
On Thursday, when asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy about the location of his car, Biden said, “My Corvette is in a locked garage, so it’s not like it’s sitting on the street.”
In a 2017 New York Times feature, Biden said he only used the Corvette for special occasions. A similar 2019 profile of the former senator in The Washington Post noted that Biden was still regularly changing the oil in the car.

Biden’s Corvette was a wedding present given to the President before his first marriage by his father, a used car dealer
Biden and his son gave a joint interview to Popular Mechanics in June 2016 about their shared love of cars.
In that interview, Biden shared his most treasured memory with his Corvette, which Hunter was involved with.
The President said: “I would guess he was a little over three years old. You sat on my lap while I drove – I know now it’s bizarre to say. We lived in a rural area and we came across a stop sign on a country road.”
He continued, “A beautiful day like today and he’s sitting on my lap and he turns around and puts his hand on my face and he’s like, ‘Daddy? dad? I love you more than all of heaven.”
Biden showed Leno his beloved 1967 Corvette Stingray in 2016, in the closing days of the Obama administration. The car was a wedding gift the president got from his father, a used car dealer, before his first wedding.
At that appearance, Biden was given the opportunity to drive his car. Typically, both the President and Vice President are banned from driving by the Secret Service.
The President told Leno, “I got married in August ’67. My father didn’t have much money, but for years he ran the largest Chevrolet dealership in the state. So, there are 75 people outside the dealership. We pull up, they spread. My father says, “This is my wedding present.”

Meanwhile, Biden told reporters at the White House that he was “fully cooperating” with a Justice Department investigation into how and why classified information and government records were improperly stored

Biden was asked how he could have classified materials “next to your Corvette.” He shot back, ‘By the way, my Corvette is in a locked garage, okay?’
Information from Hunter’s laptop shows that his Delaware driver’s license listed the house in Wilmington as his primary residence.
Robert Hur, a former US attorney appointed by former President Donald Trump, will lead the investigation into the new discoveries and plans to start work soon, according to Garland.
Meanwhile, Biden told reporters at the White House that he was “fully cooperating” with a Justice Department investigation into how and why classified information and government records were improperly stored.
An attorney for the president, Richard Sauber, said Thursday, “We have worked closely with the Justice Department throughout the review, and we will continue to work with the Special Counsel.”
“We are confident that a thorough review will show that these documents were inadvertently misplaced and the President and his attorneys acted immediately upon discovery of this error,” the attorney continued.
The disclosure comes as the White House faces multiple questions about why the discoveries have not yet been disclosed and who handled them.
The White House did not confirm the discovery of the Penn Biden Center documents until Monday in response to news requests, and remained silent on the subsequent search of Biden’s homes and discovery of the garage tranche until Thursday morning, just before Garland announced Hur’s appointment.
When Biden first addressed the matter Tuesday in Mexico City, he also didn’t elaborate on the subsequent document discoveries.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted that Biden’s administration was handling the matter correctly, despite the public omissions.
“There was transparency about what you were supposed to be doing,” she said, declining to answer repeated questions about when Biden was notified of the documents’ discovery and whether he would submit to an interview with investigators.
When asked if Biden could guarantee that no additional classified documents would turn up in a further search, Jean-Pierre said, “You should assume it’s closed, yes.”
The appointment of another special counsel to investigate the handling of classified documents is a remarkable turn of events, legal and political, for a Justice Department that has spent months investigating Trump’s holding of more than 300 classified-marked documents used at the the former president’s estate in Florida.
While the situations are factually and legally different, the discovery of classified documents linked to Biden in two different locations — as well as the appointment of a new special counsel — would almost certainly complicate any prosecution the department might pursue against Trump.
Speaker of the new House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, a California Republican, said of the latest news, “I think Congress needs to look into this.”
“Here’s a person who sat on ’60 Minutes’ and was so concerned about President Trump’s documents … and now we find that this is a vice president who’s been keeping them open in different places for years.”
However, he disagreed with several other Republicans, saying, “We don’t think there needs to be a special prosecutor.”
The top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee has called on the intelligence community to conduct a “damage assessment” of potentially classified documents. Ohio Rep. Mike Turner on Thursday also requested briefings from Garland and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines on their reviews through Jan. 26.
“The presence of classified information in these separate locations could implicate the President in the mishandling, potential misuse, and disclosure of classified information,” Turner wrote to officials.
