Biden travels to North Carolina to thrash MAGA Republicans in the next step of his 2024 warm-up tour

He may not have declared that he is running for re-election, but President Joe Biden’s trip to North Carolina looks and sounds like a campaign freeze.

Officials say he will tout the $435 billion in private-sector manufacturing commitments made since taking office, while warning voters all is in jeopardy if MAGA Republicans in Congress repeal the Anti-Inflation Act and the cut funding.

It’s part of a three-week push involving other senior administration figures to highlight laws that have boosted the economy and contrast Biden’s plan with that of Republicans as they bicker over budget priorities.

His visit leads him to Wolfspeed, an expanding semiconductor manufacturing facility in Durham.

It announced plans in September to build a $5 billion manufacturing facility in Chatham County that is expected to create 1,800 jobs.

This came shortly after the Biden administration pushed the CHIPS bill through Congress to boost the domestic semiconductor industry and scientific research.

It’s not uncommon for Biden to trumpet his achievements in office. But he has launched himself into attacks on Republicans in recent weeks amid growing expectations that he is about to announce re-election.

And over the next three weeks, officials will focus on key swing states like Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin… all starting with Biden’s trip to a state Trump narrowly won in 2020.

“During his visit to North Carolina, President Biden will also highlight what is at stake if MAGA Republicans prevail in Congress to repeal the Anti-Inflation Act and cut funding for manufacturing, research and innovation to give tax breaks to the super-rich. North Carolina is among the states set to lose the most private sector investment, along with Arizona, Georgia, Ohio and New York, as a result of reckless MAGA Republican proposals,” a White House official said.

Biden has announced that he will run for a second term but has yet to officially start his re-election campaign.

It comes amid a concerted push to boost the work of government in business.

Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden and other senior officials will travel to 20 states over the next three weeks, according to the White House.

In recent weeks, White House messages have become bolder and more aggressive after two years on the defensive.

Biden’s handling of the economy amid record inflation and a border security crisis has been used by Republicans to attack.

Government officials have now turned to Republican calls for budget spending cuts to illustrate what they believe would be a step backwards.

At the border, they say, if the GOP intends to keep money for defense and social security programs, it would inevitably reduce the number of border patrol officers.

“The MAGA plan would deny the Customs and Border Protection men and women the resources they need to secure our borders,” White House communications director Ben LaBolt said in a memo earlier this month.

“It would mean fewer agents and less technology to fight the fentanyl trade, dismantle criminal organizations and stop illegal border crossings.”

Officials have repeatedly used the specter of extremist relics — Donald Trump allies like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene or the House Freedom Caucus — to portray the entire GOP as a far-right fringe.

On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden’s visit wanted to demonstrate “what’s at stake if MAGA Republicans prevail in Congress and repeal the Anti-Inflation Act, raise taxes on hard-working families and… cut funding for manufacturing innovation and research.’
