‘Big fat kiss goodbye to the worst year of my life’: Louise Thompson recaps her past 12 months in a candid New Year’s Eve post as she reflects on the ‘blurr’ of 2022
Louise Thompson took to Instagram on Sunday to share a different kind of New Year’s post, as she told her followers that she wanted to say goodbye to all the suffering she’s endured in 2022.
The former Made In Chelsea star posted a sweet photo of her and her beloved son on Instagram.
However, the blurry image gave followers a clue as to how the year of the stars was feeling, as she began the caption of the New Year’s post with “A snap to sum up my year, a blur.”
Continuing the emotional post, she added, “I wrote a reflective caption that I meant to post yesterday but didn’t feel brave enough to share it. Maybe tomorrow, but for today just a big, fat kiss goodbye to the worst year of my life.
“I’m sure many of you have something to say about that sentiment, but I said it anyway. I can not lie.”

“Obviously, connecting with my beautiful son and laughing with him has brought me a joy like no other (and made it, in oddly contradictory ways, the best year of my life).” There is no doubt that the joy was compounded by the extreme suffering at the other end of the spectrum.’
She continued to tell her fans how she plans to cope with her trauma, adding, “But that doesn’t take away from the fact that there’s been a hell of a lot of suffering. I want to say goodbye to all the suffering.
“I think I’m ready to say goodbye. I’m finally going to try proper trauma therapy.’
She continued, “It’s been a full year since I’ve tried it and yes it has 100% thrown me out of reality and to a place where I have completely lost control of my mind, but I think I need to double check it to progress properly.
“I’m better equipped now to deal with things. I have a bit of routine and some safe structures around me. Also, worst case scenario, I check in somewhere to get help (kinda crazy that this hasn’t happened yet). I guess because I’m going back and forth from feeling good to feeling chronically bad to feeling good, I never quite get there.

“Besides, I’m too scared. I don’t want to use up all my resources and not be able to try anything else. Oh and of course now I have to put someone else’s needs first ☺️ and I can’t spend time without my little fuzzy anymore. Anyway, to sum it up… I would really like to feel a little LESS in the new year.”
Concluding the emotional post, Louise wrote: “It may sound weird but I’m dying to have a more subdued experience of the world. Less wild ups and downs. More cruising and a bit more relaxed. I’m not too happy with this current paradigm, so I’ll keep making changes. I won’t give up trying. I’ve tried a lot, but there’s still more to try.”
“Anyone else out there who has had a difficult one, I wish you the best of luck in this new one and remember you are not alone. It’s certainly not all rainbows.”
The New Year’s post comes after the TV personality suffered from PTSD and postnatal anxiety after nearly dying while giving birth to their son Leo in November 2021 after experiencing “intense traumatic incidents in such close proximity”.
Louise also admitted that she cried up to 20 times during a week in January due to her battle with post-traumatic stress and postpartum anxiety.
The star has been honest with her fans about her daily struggles, revealing at points where the fear felt “unexplainable,” but now she’s learning to “make sense of it.”
Louise, who often calls son Leo her “little miracle baby,” manages to control her anxiety and after compulsively checking her temperature, blood pressure and heart rate, she is able to go about her normal daily routine.
