Four women, dead in horror, collided on a country road after the car went off the road and crashed into a tree

Four women have died in a horrific accident on a road in the Victoria region.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, rescue workers were called to the scene of the accident in Bokhara, three and a half hours west of Melbourne.

Victoria Police said a car carrying five people was traveling down Wannon-Nigretta Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.

“Four women, all of whom have yet to be formally identified, died at the scene,” the police statement said.

“Another woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.”

The area around the accident site has been cordoned off and the police have traffic diversions in place.

Investigators from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
