Brazen thug rips a watch off a man’s arm outside Mayfair restaurant [Video]

This is the shocking moment when a man has his watch ripped from his wrist in broad daylight while waiting outside a luxury restaurant in Mayfair.

The unidentified customer entered a restaurant in Berkeley Square in London on Tuesday night when his watch was snatched away by the thief in front of those standing outside.

In the video footage, a person wearing a fedora and dark jacket follows the man and approaches just as he is about to enter the venue.

After a brief struggle, he sprints away from the scene with the watch he now has in his possession while the shocked diner chasing him down the street.

The incident comes after a spate of brazen thefts in the ‘Wild West’ capital where luxury watches were openly targeted by criminals in broad daylight.

Last week, a thief disguised as a Deliveroo driver was caught in a video smashing a £3million Bugatti Chiron with a hammer to steal a Kuwaiti playboy’s £110,000 Rolex.

And on the same day, in Chelsea, west London, a brave elderly woman armed with a cane was seen confronting masked knifemen who had stolen a £60,000 Rolex watch from a woman in the street.

The recent crime spate has prompted police chiefs to admit that there has been an increase in street robbery examples.

Some social media users have blamed London Mayor Sadiq Khan, accusing the left-wing leader of failing to curb knife crime and street theft.

A Met Police spokeswoman told MailOnline: “Police were called at around 7:30pm on Tuesday 30 August to a report of a robbery in Berkeley Square, W1.

Calls to curb online sales of counterfeit delivery uniforms amid fears they are being used by criminals

Individual videos from the capital showed two thugs using counterfeit delivery driver uniforms in robberies.

Experts have called for an urgent investigation after a surge in thieves using fake Deliveroo uniforms as part of their criminal schemes.

MailOnline found that the large thermal bags were available on popular market sites such as eBay.

Some sellers even offer a full rider kit, including t-shirts, jackets, and branded bike helmets.

Susan Hall, chair of the Greater London Authority’s Police and Crime Committee, fears the sale of the equipment will fuel a market for muggers.

“Officials attended and were speaking to a man who said he was with a group of friends when another man approached them and blended into their group as they crossed the street.

“He then approached the victim and managed to remove his watch from his arm before fleeing the scene on foot.

“Officials searched the area but no trace of the suspect was found. Anyone with information should call 101 with the reference 7122/30AUG22.’

In another harrowing video released on August 22, a driver wearing a Deliveroo uniform was caught pulling over in traffic on Park Lane near Hyde Park Corner, Mayfair, and smashing the window of a car with a hammer Bugatti Chiron hit.

They then appear to hit the car several times before the supercar drives off quickly and the thief takes no valuables.

Another driver – also in a Deliveroo outfit – then drove alongside the thief as they fled the scene.

Just four days later, a suspected drug dealer, again disguised as a fake Deliveroo driver, led police officers on a chase before being arrested in west London.

The man in the bright turquoise uniform can be seen running down the street followed by two police officers on foot and another police officer on a moped.

After the attempted theft, Mr. Al Basman is helped out of his crashed sports car.

The Kuwaiti playboy, who was staying at the Berkeley Hotel, is believed to have been targeted after posting pictures of his supercars and expensive watches on social media.

A witness said: “The moped thieves were at the hotel this morning and staff told them to leave the sidewalk.

“When Abdullah drove off in the Bugatti, they followed him to Hyde Park Corner. One beeped the horn, which I assume was the signal to begin the attack.

“I suppose they were waiting for an intersection they knew would have a long red light so they had time to attack.”

Two hooded thieves wearing balaclavas and black clothing were pictured the same day as they jumped out and attacked two victims, a woman in his 30s and a man in his 40s, as they walked down a quiet street in Chelsea, west London.

In new video footage obtained by MailOnline, one of the criminals can be seen grappling with the female victim while she lies in a doorway in Pond Place.

In the clip, the victim’s male companion can be seen trying to fend off the robbers, while the elderly woman, armed with a broom, approaches the rioter and waves it at the car before it drives off.

Responding to footage shared on Instagram, TV star Shabs Ahmad Sadiq Khan warned he will have “blood on his hands” if he doesn’t step in to stem the violent crime wave that continues to plague London.

He said: ‘Sadiq Khan do you see that shit dude? And you are too busy expanding the ULEZ?

‘ Sort it out. Like I said, you’ll have blood on your hands.

“This guy could have been stabbed very easily.”

He continued, adding, “Just saying, I think we all have to be prepared for them because nobody’s taking my ass off.”

Royal biographer Omid Scobie added: “Another day, another clock heist in London. Sadiq Khan does everything while criminals continue to take over the city.

“Having recently jumped in Mayfair I will never wear a watch again and suggest you do the same.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Owain Richards, who is responsible for policing Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea, said: “In Central West BCU we have seen an increase in these types of robberies in recent weeks as criminals take advantage of the longer days and the busier streets. We know similar increases have occurred in other areas of the city.

“We want people living in and visiting London to be able to enjoy our city safely – no one should have to go about their day in fear of thieves.

“We know the impact these crimes have on each and every victim, and that’s why we have extra officers on duty in places where these crimes are most prevalent. This includes those from special forces, like our Op Venice teams.

“We are also reminding people to be aware of their surroundings and to keep valuables out of sight whenever possible.”
