A woman has lost a thumb after she was allegedly caught trying to steal a car before getting away with a motorbike and crashing it.

The woman was on the motorbike with another man when they noticed a vehicle parked on a Brisbane street on Thursday had a window rolled down slightly.

The man allegedly tried to break into the car while the woman stayed on the bike before they were confronted by the car’s owner.

Pool technician David Brain said he partially rolled down the window while going on an assignment at a client’s home.

He then filmed the moment he tried to stop the couple by standing in front of their bike.

A man and woman wearing bike helmets argue with him before the driver revs the motorbike’s engine.

“If you run over me, you’ll go all over the local side,” says Mr. Brain.

Mr Brain wants to know why the couple were “in my car” before asking if they have his wallet.

“I don’t have your wallet,” the driver replies.

‘Then what were you doing in my damn car?’ Mr Brain says.

The motorcyclists attempt to take off before the vehicle swerves onto the footpath and crashes into a wooden fence surrounding a nearby park.

The couple falls off their bikes and slides down the sidewalk, severing the woman’s thumb.

She screams in pain as she clutches her left hand in pain and tries to jump onto the back of the bike.

Mr Brain offers them a first aid kit while the driver tries to restart his motorcycle.

The woman was later found on a freeway before being taken to the hospital.

Mr Brain later described the gruesome scene of the crash on Friday’s Sunrise.

“The thumb, it didn’t look like there was much of it left,” he said.

“We couldn’t find the thumb. Lots of blood but I don’t know, she’s probably pretty messed up in the hospital and thinks her old pal would be a bit sore too.

Police are looking for the male driver, but Mr. Brain says he will not press charges.

“I thought they had a pretty tough sentence there,” he said.
