San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy has earned comparisons to Tom Brady after leading the 49ers to the NFC West Division title.
The Niners finished the division and secured their place in the playoffs with a 21-13 away win over arch-rivals Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night.
It was only Purdy’s second start for San Francisco after Kyle Shanahan’s ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ after Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo’s injuries this season.
Despite being the final pick of last year’s draft, the 22-year-old has ridden to wins with the Niners and has shown confidence and composure.

His performances have earned him praise from many in the football landscape, with some comparing the quarterback to the seven-time Super Bowl winner.
Amazon Prime analyst Michael Smith Thursday night said: “I remember asking Brady if he would play in hostile environments on the street, you know what he said?
“He said, ‘I played in Michigan, that’s nothing.’ Just as Brock Purdy talks about playing in Oklahoma, it has helped prepare him for that big stage.
“Again, I’m not saying he’s Brady, but it’s eerily reminiscent. The comparison between Brock Purdy in 2022 and Brady in 2001 is uncanny. It gives the same level of serenity and serenity. I’ve seen this film before.’

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green somewhat echoed Michael’s thoughts as he spoke to the Amazon Prime team at halftime.
He said: “I watched the game last week and said to some of my friends, ‘Hey guys, do you all think we’re looking at the next Tom Brady? You know, Tom Brady is a sixth-round pick.
“Are we looking at the next Tom Brady? We don’t know for sure yet, but to see what this guy is doing is absolutely amazing.

The No. 262 overall pick of 2022 — the last one in the draft — gave the Niners two wins in two
Purdy himself joined the TNF crew after the game, stating that he foresaw this for his future. The timing though, well, he hadn’t thought of that.
“I’ve always believed in myself,” Purdy said. “I didn’t know when it was coming, but I envisioned those kinds of things when it came to running an NFL team down the road.
“I’ve always had so much faith in myself, but in terms of timing, I just let God do it and trust in His plan.”

Purdy formed a dangerous partnership with tight end George Kittle (L) who caught two TDs
There were numerous social media accounts that contributed to the Purdy-Brady comparisons, while others were just delighted to see another NFL Cinderella story (so far).
“I love Brock Purdy,” wrote one user. “Such a good story, even if it’s just this one. From the last election to the playoffs. And yes, the team is good, but he clenches.’
San Francisco actually qualified for the postseason with the 21-13 win in Seattle. Victory over their rival earned them the NFC West crown.

The Twitter reaction saw some comparing the young QB to the GOAT while others were just plain happy

Another good QB story this season, Geno Smith congratulated Purdy with a post-game hug
The rookie threw two touchdown passes to George Kittle as San Francisco clinched the division title for the first time since 2019.
Purdy hit on his first 11 pass attempts, including a 28-yard TD against Kittle in the first quarter when the quarterback ran two fakes before hitting his wide-open tight end.
Purdy and Kittle reconnected early in the second half when the Seattle defense blew cover, leaving Kittle open for a 54-yard TD and a 21-3 lead for San Francisco. Purdy finished 17 of 26 for 217 yards and joined Aaron Rodgers as the only QB since at least 1950 to have a passer rating of at least 115 in each of his first two starts.
