Bulls guard Goran Dragic praises compatriot Luka Doncic for the Mavericks’ recent performances

‘It’s incredible!’ Bulls guard Goran Dragic praises compatriot Luka Doncic for recent performances after the Mavericks star posted the NBA’s first 60-20-10 game against the Knicks

Bulls guard Goran Dragic has praised international teammate Luka Doncic for his “incredible” play after a brilliant week for the Mavericks.

Doncic has averaged an incredible 44.3 points in his last four competitions, including a historic game of 60 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists against the Knicks as he led Dallas to a comeback win in overtime.

It’s a testament to the Slovenian’s current level that his 50-point performance was eclipsed just four days earlier when Doncic became the first Mavs player to score 60 points and the first player to score a 60- 20–10 line in the NBA.

And Dragic is delighted – but not surprised – to see the 23-year-old producing brilliantly.

“I mean, it’s amazing to see what he’s doing,” Dragic said DailyMail.com Friday before the Bulls’ game in Paris on Jan. 19 against the Pistons.

“It’s nothing new for me because I said back in 2017 that he would be one of the best players in the world and I really meant it. Because I do [had] seen when he was 18, 17 reading the game, playing the game.

“I’m so happy for him that he’s had so much success.”

NBA veteran Dragic shares a long-standing association with Doncic, having previously played for Slovenia with his father Sasa and meeting Luka when he was just five, according to NBC Sports Chicago.

And since 2017, when the younger Doncic made his senior international debut at the EuroBasket tournament, Dragic has also counted the Mavs star among his teammates.

The pair managed to win the country’s first basketball title this summer, and Dragic hinted Friday that he will be trying for another medal with Doncic at this year’s FIBA World Championship.

“Playing with him is great, it makes the game easier,” Dragic said. “Everyone is focused on him. So it’s a privilege to play alongside him.”

Doncic’s Dallas teammates would certainly support that assessment — especially lately — as the Mavs have won five straight games and climbed to fifth in the West.

While Doncic is level on points with the premier league (33.7 points per game), he is also a prolific distributor as his 8.9 assists per contest lags just three players.

In its fourth season last year, Dallas had its best postseason result since 2011 by reaching the conference finals.
