Cardiff have parted ways with manager Mark Hudson after a 1-1 draw with Wigan on Saturday.

The result will be frustrating for the club as bottom side Kolo Toure picked up a point in added time after losing 4-1 in each of their last three games.

The Bluebirds are now just three points above the relegation zone after dropping points in what could be a crucial game.

Hudson was appointed janitor boss in September before being offered the permanent position in November.

He will now leave the club after winning just four of his 18 games in charge, a run that has seen the Bluebirds finish 21st in the Championship.

There have been some positive results during the 40-year-old’s tenure, such as forcing Leeds into an FA Cup replay with a 2-2 draw at Cardiff last week.

A statement released by the club announcing Hudson’s sacking read: “The board would like to take the record of their thanks to Mark for all his work as a player, coach and manager with the Bluebirds. We wish Markus all the best for the future.

“Tom Ramasut remains as assistant coach and will be joined by goalkeeping coach Graham Stack. The club’s search for a new permanent manager will begin immediately.’

They also announced that Dean Whitehead will lead the team as interim manager for the time being.

Cardiff will next be in action when they meet Jesse Marschs Leeds in an FA Cup replay on Wednesday, while their next league game is next Saturday against a Millwall side who are fighting for a play-off spot.
