Mitchell, who recently suffered a tear in Cleveland, was greeted by a young, loyal fan, Josh, who was keen to welcome his favorite player back.

Taking to Twitter, Spida shared a video of Josh awaiting his arrival at Vivint Arena, revealing that the youngster had done so during Mitchell’s five years with jazz.

He wrote: “My guy Josh has been waiting for me at every game in the arena for 5 years!! It’s the first time I’ve seen him since I was traded… it’s moments like this that last forever! I missed you Josh!’

After hugging the star, it took Josh a while to let go, and when he did he could be seen wiping his eyes.

Once a centerpiece of the jazz franchise, Mitchell was traded to the Cavs during the offseason and had not played at his former home arena as of Tuesday night.

He was also duly honored for his five years in Utah with a touching tribute video and a standing ovation from fans before the game.

Before the Cavs’ lineup was announced, fans showed their love for the franchise’s former star, with thousands clapping and some even bowing.

Though the Jazz team wouldn’t budge in the face of Mitchell as they broke a two-game losing streak by beating East No. 4, 116-114.

‘Spida’ spent 2017-2021 with the Jazz after Denver picked him 13th overall in the 2017 draft before being immediately traded.

In the tribute video, Utah showed Adam Silver announcing the election that took Mitchell from Louisville to Salt Lake City, before flashing to highlights during his glory days in a jazz uniform.

Unsurprisingly, Mitchell slashed on his return, dropping 46 points, grabbing six rebounds and adding five assists.

But it wasn’t enough to lead the Cavaliers to a win, as the Jazz rallied late behind Jordan Clarkson to beat Cleveland 116-114.
