Chelsea have made a £39m bid for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise but face competition from Manchester City

Chelsea ‘place £39m bid for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise’ – MORE than his £35m release clause – in a bid to surpass Manchester City in signing him back at Stamford Bridge
- Chelsea have made an opening bid to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise
- Mauricio Pochettino has already made contact with the France U21 winger
- Palace hope to keep Olise but he has agreed to join Chelsea if a deal is agreed
Chelsea have reportedly made a “£39m offer plus bonuses” to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.
Accordingly RMC sportswriter Fabrice HawkinsThe Blues have made an initial offer for the 21-year-old, who was “beguiled by the project” at Stamford Bridge.
Mail Sport understand Olise has a £35million release clause but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have offered amounts in excess of that amount in a bid to secure a more favorable payment schedule, similar to their deal with Villarreal over Nicolas Jackson’s signing.
The Argentina coach is a huge admirer of the young winger and has already spoken to him. Olise has agreed to join Chelsea if an agreement can be reached.
Palace, meanwhile, are trying to persuade him to stay and Pochettino’s side will likely have to trigger that release clause given Roy Hodgson’s side are reluctant to negotiate his sale.

Mauricio Pochtettino (pictured) is a big fan of the 21-year-old. His side have reportedly bid £39m to sign the right winger

They hope to bid over his £35million release clause to agree a more favorable payment structure and surpass Pep Guardiola’s (pictured) Manchester City to sign him
Their offer, which is above his release clause, could help them trump Manchester City in the signing race, with Pep Guardiola also eyeing a move for the Crystal Palace prospect.
Olise’s contract expires in 2026 as the Frenchman spent two years at the south London club following his £8million transfer from Reading.
He has attracted the attention of clubs in the Premier League and across Europe, with PSG being another club who have expressed an interest in signing him.

Most recently, he was with France at the U21 European Championships, but suffered a thigh tear during the tournament

Roy Hodgson’s side could also lose another attacker this summer: Wifried Zaha (pictured), who is in talks with Turkish club Galatasaray to sign an £8million-a-year deal
Earlier in the year, Palace also offered the sought-after star a new deal to keep him at the club.
But after a stellar season in which he made 37 Premier League appearances and provided 11 assists, Olise suffered a thigh tear during the European Under-21 Championship that will be a blow to the Eagles.
The news comes as Palace may also lose their top scorer Wilfried Zaha, who is in talks to secure an £8million-year deal with Galatasaray and could leave the Eagles on a free transfer, according to Mail Sport.
