Chelsea newcomer Benoit Badiashile reveals he can’t wait to play alongside ‘legend’ Thiago Silva… as the £35m defender names Frank Lampard, John Terry and Didier Drogba as some of his favorite players in club history
Benoit Badiashile has expressed his excitement at being given the chance to play alongside Thiago Silva at Chelsea.
The 21-year-old starlet joined the club from Monaco earlier this month on a seven-and-a-half-year deal worth £35million.
In his first interview since joining Chelsea, Badiashile toured the club’s training facilities and expressed his excitement at being given the chance to play alongside some of the squad’s established stars.

“I know Wesley [Fofana] Good. He and I played together for the national team and I’m delighted to be joining him here.” Badiashile told Chelseafc.com.
“Then in that dressing room there are some big names like Thiago Silva, a legend. He’s a player I look up to and that’s why I’m really excited to have the opportunity to play alongside him. Then there’s N’Golo Kante, we all know what he brought to this club.
The France international also paid tribute to some of the stars of the club’s all-conquering side in the mid-2000s.
“I’ve been following the club for a long time and admire the history of the club. It’s a pleasure to be able to play here. Chelsea are a great club with great players John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba are some of the players I watched growing up.

The defender also paid tribute to some of the club’s legends, naming Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba among those he admires
“It’s a real pleasure to be able to play at a club that had players like that in the dressing room.”
Badiashile also offered his analysis of his playing style, stating that he was excited to work under Graham Potter in the blues.
“I’m very calm on the pitch with the ball. I like putting the ball on the field, breaking the lines of play and maintaining possession.
“The manager is someone who likes to keep the ball and likes the team to put the ball on the field. I think that’s a philosophy that suits me well and I’m very proud to be able to work with him.”
