Child rapist Jason Mizner is not trying to keep his legal application for his own prison cell a secret

A child rapist who requested a private cell has lost his request to keep his case secret.
Former Gold Coast yoga teacher Jason Daron Mizner was sentenced to 19 years in prison in 2018 after repeatedly assaulting his partner’s two-year-old girl for over three months while simultaneously assaulting a second woman’s baby in Thailand.
He has pleaded guilty to more than 60 child sex offenses since the early 2000s, including more than 30 counts of rape and videotaping of the assaults.
After being arrested in Thailand, he served 11 years of a 35-year sentence before being deported and arrested by Australian authorities on his return to Brisbane.
Mizner, who is currently at Wolston Correctional Center in Queensland, filed a motion in court claiming he should not have to share a cell as he cannot tolerate a cellmate due to his multiple disabilities.
The matter is due to be heard in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Court in April, but Mizner requested that the hearing be terminated and the evidence and outcome of the four-day hearing suppressed.

Child rapist Jason Mizner, who was sentenced to 19 years in prison in 2018 for raping a two-year-old girl, has failed to keep his request a secret about why he can’t have a cellmate
In a motion to the tribunal, Mizner argued that, for the sake of safety, his case should be kept confidential by himself and a fellow prisoner who will support his allegation.
He also said that media coverage puts him and his witness at risk of assault while they remain in prison and that suppressing his request would “protect” his victims.
In a court ruling released Friday, the court noted that while it accepts the claim that part of the community “disdains” sex offenders and that this may increase risk, the court case is not yet complete.
“We simply do not think we can conclude that conducting the proceedings in open court, as is customary, poses such a risk that it is necessary to take the extraordinary step of closing the court and prohibiting the publication of all the details in order to.” to avoid it,” the court explained.
The tribunal also dismissed Mizner’s claim that he cared about his victims’ families by issuing a non-publication order.
The baby rapist’s jail witness told lawyers he would not produce evidence unless it was under the guise of complete anonymity, which the tribunal agreed to.
Mizner previously apologized to the prison after they couldn’t guarantee him a single cell, as he said cellmates turning on the lights or going to the bathroom at night triggered his PSTD, which traces back to more than a decade in a Thai prison was.
The discrimination case alleges that he was impaired due to his mental illness, which caused him to be hypersensitive to sleep disorders.

Mizner’s application to the court claims his multiple disabilities, including PTSD, mean he doesn’t have to share a cell at Wolston Correctional Center in Queensland (pictured), meaning he can’t face having a cellmate
Mizner had previously argued that his sentence for the relentless rape of his girlfriend’s daughter was “excessive,” despite receiving just 19 years in prison for the repeated assaults.
The volume of material presented in Mizner’s sentencing meant the judge had to pause to ensure he received a fair sentence.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Leanne Clare said she had trouble coping with the disturbing footage of Mizner’s crimes, despite her 30-year experience dealing with extreme child abuse cases.
“I only saw part of it and it was a struggle to get the vision of your insult out of my mind,” Justice Clare said.
“I can’t imagine how awful it is for the[girl’s]mother.”
The court was told that Mizner, who was 31 at the time of the attacks, had formed a relationship with the Australian girl’s mother before committing the offenses over several months.

The former Gold Coast yoga teacher repeatedly assaulted his partner’s two-year-old girl for over three months, while also assaulting the baby of a second woman he was friends with in Thailand
While he was vacationing in Thailand, the girl’s mother found videos he had made and a range of other material unrelated to child exploitation.
Mizner stayed in Thailand, where he formed a relationship with a local woman, before attacking her young daughter and being arrested by Thai authorities.
Mizner’s sentencing was also delayed when a doctor providing a psychological assessment for the court suffered a heart attack.
That report, the defense argued, showed that a motorcycle accident when Mizner was 21 left him with a brain injury that “disinhibited” him.
Judge Clare said it also shows he has a “liking for babies” and has a medium to high likelihood of re-offending if not jailed.
“Even a small risk of recidivism in baby rape is a significant risk to manage. If it’s moderate to high risk … it’s alarming,” she said.
Judge Clare said Mizner showed no remorse for his heinous crimes.
