  • Man United beat Copenhagen after a brilliant last-minute penalty from Onana
  • However, Garnacho made headlines for the wrong reason after winning the spot

Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has been harshly criticized by former football professionals and pundits for his behavior Escapades before FC Copenhagen’s missed penalty The Red Devils’ 1-0 win in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Danish side were awarded a penalty in the final minute at Old Trafford after a foul by Scott McTominay.

But Jordan Larsson failed with a great stop Andre Onana as the goalkeeper dived left to preserve United’s slim 1-0 lead.

Post game footage showed that Garnacho had stepped on the spot with both feet before the penalty while referee Marco Guida was busy dealing with the angry United players.

Former Arsenal midfielder Kim Kallstrom has chastised Garnacho for “childish” behavior.

Now Mail Sport’s Chris Sutton and Ian Ladyman have described Garnacho’s behavior as “horrible”.

“Imagine if it were the other way around. And Manchester United had to get back into the game. I mean, there would be an outrage from Manchester United fans, right? Sutton said on the latest episode of Mail Sport’s It’s All Coming Up podcast.

“I thought Garnacho’s was really, really bad.” You know, I really did. Digging out the penalty spot is a completely different matter.

“I think this is a really poor performance from Garnacho and Manchester United and he should be reprimanded for it. “I hope Eric ten Hag addresses this in his next press release.”

Ladyman added: “I have to admit, I don’t like it either.” Some people say, “If you can get away with it, you should do it.” There’s a word for this kind of behavior, which we don’t have without the use of our beep machine can use, but it ends with “-housery”.

“I think referees should know about things like this.” “I still haven’t really processed what happened in the World Cup final, like how Emilio and Martin scared off the French players before the penalty shootout.”

Onana’s decisive penalty gave United a decisive 1-0 win and kept their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League alive after consecutive defeats in their first two games.
