Coles shoppers get ‘sorry’ refunds: check your receipt now

Selected Coles customers received a small “sorry discount” on their groceries this week.

The discount was noticed by several savvy shoppers who took to social media to show off their receipts.

“Does anyone know the reason for this $0.47 “sorry” credit?,” one customer asked.

Photos from the discount listings showed a varying amount deducted from the total price, next to the word “sorry” in bold.

A Coles spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the discount was given to members of its Flybuys loyalty program after the system was shut down.

“We discovered that a small number of Flybuys members did not receive the promotion they activated due to an IT issue,” they said.

“Flybuys has applied a Flybuys credit to the accounts of all affected members, which will appear on the next receipt.”

“We hope this has not caused any inconvenience to these customers.”

Some Australians joked that the “apology” was about recent price increases.

“Sorry you had to pay $10 for 500g of cheese,” one person wrote.

“This is your reward for using self-checkout,” joked another.
