An opossum interrupted the TCU-Texas Tech football rivalry game, stormed onto the field and refused to leave before eventually being captured as college football fans went wild over the chaotic moment.
The marsupial ran onto the gridiron early in the second quarter of Thursday night’s game at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, impressing spectators with his speed and determination to cross freely.
The Fox Sports broadcast captured the frantic chase to capture the relatively harmless creature while the score was tied at 7-7.
“Rodents of unusual size appear in Lubbock.” This just happened. “We had a possum on the 15-yard line,” said one of two FS1 commentators in the booth, although he misidentified the possum’s infraclass.
“He was not happy about being escorted out of the stadium.”

It didn’t take long to hunt down the possum, but fans couldn’t help but feel bad for the animal as it hung on the field with its sharp claws while being dragged away by some sort of hook.
“He paid for his ticket like everyone else,” a user on X defended the animal.
“Bro just wanted to be on the team lol,” another commented after describing the moment as “hilarious.”
“What was the play call?” another fan joked.
“He just wants to play.” Give him the football. “He needs that touchdown so bad,” one person said.
“More entertaining than the game,” joked another.

Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, fully supported the fact that the possum is stealing the spotlight
The rivalry between Texas Tech and TCU dates back to 1926. TCU won the first game between both teams this year 28-16.
However, the Red Raiders have the overall lead in the historic series at 32-30-3 and the longest winning streak (6) in the rivalry.
Texas Tech emerged victorious again Thursday night, winning the final rivalry game 35-28.
