  • Three men were stabbed to death at a McDonald’s in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland
  • The attack happened at 6.45am this morning and left no life-threatening injuries
  • Montgomery County police are searching for the suspect, who immediately fled

Maryland police are searching for a suspect who stabbed three men inside a McDonald’s earlier this morning.

The three people were having breakfast in Silver Spring around 6:45 a.m. when a knife attack ensued, leaving all three with non-life-threatening injuries.

When police arrived, they found two men stabbed and shortly after a third man entered the restaurant, also wounded, WUSA-TV reported.

Montgomery County Police said no employees were hurt and that the man with the knife left the restaurant before they arrived, so they are still looking for a suspect.

It is currently unclear whether it was a targeted attack.

The stabbing was reported around 6:45 a.m. by a McDonald’s on Block 8400 of Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring. The names of the three victims were not released.

Initially, only two men were identified, but then a third person who had left returned “to notify police that he had also sustained an injury”.

“There were three victims, all with non-life-threatening injuries, who were taken to local hospitals,” Montgomery Police Department police officer Mary DiGilio said during a small news conference outside the restaurant.

“We don’t know the motive at this time,” she said. “It’s a stranger, we don’t know the motive.”

DiGilio could not tell where the men were stabbed.

More than two hours later, the Montgomery County Police Department released a brief statement about the incident on Twitter.

“MCPD is investigating a stabbing at Block 8400 of Colesville Road. Officers have secured the area and are searching for the suspect.” A description of the suspect was not provided.

Last September, a man with an ax was caught freaking out in a McDonald’s in New York City.

The incident happened at Delancey Street McDonald’s on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and involved an argument between a man and a group of people who were eating at the restaurant.

During an argument, Michael Palacios, 31, pulled an ax and began smashing glass and furniture in the restaurant.

After the shooting, Palacios fled the scene on his bicycle, but was apprehended by police on nearby Ludlow Street a short time later.
