Couple hoping for ‘last vacation together’ say Thai trip turned into ‘vacation from hell’

A husband-to-be was dismayed after his ‘bucket list’ trip – booked after a devastating cancer diagnosis – turned into a ‘vacation from hell’.
Ahead of his 50th birthday, Adam Debeers had booked the two-week holiday to Thailand with his fiancé Grace Cwalinska for £3,200 and the couple flew on December 8 for their “last holiday together”.
However, Mr Debeers says the holiday of a lifetime quickly turned into a nightmare when he realized their Khao Lak resort was essentially a construction site.
Poor in-flight conditions, a “room filled with mold” and no hot water were just a few of the things Adam claims ruined their “last vacation together.”

After a horrible flight to Thailand, they found their “luxury” abode was still essentially a construction site (pictured).
Despite being scheduled to stay in a beautiful bungalow at the Bandari Resort, distribution center worker Adam, from Warrington, Cheshire, claims something went wrong at the airport as the flight was delayed four hours.
This was followed by what Adam called “inedible” pasta and a busted air conditioner that spilled ice water on the couple throughout the 14-hour flight.
He claims that the cabin crew forgot to load blankets on the plane, causing passengers to freeze, and that other passengers were spiked with alcohol to make up for the lack of food. This, he says, led to several drunken incidents on board.
Adam and his fiancé claim they got dinner with a chocolate brownie and woke up to a breakfast of fairy cake as they neared their destination.
Because their flight was delayed, the couple missed dinner on their first night in Khao Lak, but decided to check out the beautiful bungalow they booked with TUI.
But when the couple arrived at their bungalow, they were greeted by a “mould-filled room” and were furious to soon find they had no hot water and no WiFi – despite paying extra for the internet connection.
The couple immediately contacted a TUI representative. However, they claim the tour guide only arrived the day before they left Thailand, with a bowl of rotten fruit and an offer of a free massage as compensation.
To make matters worse for the couple, pictures show the luxury beach where Adam and Grace stayed covered in rubbish, as well as work being carried out by a backhoe.
The resort appears to be unfinished, leaving the couple with a vacation from hell rather than the dream vacation Adam was hoping for after his diagnosis.
Adam claims all the rooms at the hotel were great and says he wishes he had booked directly with the resort.
On Friday Adam said: “I was just told I have cancer so we booked the holiday as it was my 50th birthday on December 20th.

Arriving at their bungalow, the couple were greeted by a “mould-filled room” and were furious to soon discover they had no hot water and no WiFi – despite paying extra for the internet connection
“It could well be the last vacation we take together, it sounds a bit sad, but going to Thailand was on my wish list and I was sold a dream deluxe vacation.
“We have just returned from 2 weeks in Khao Lak, Thailand and it was the holiday of hell, at a cost of over £3,000 thanks to TUI.
“It was my 50th birthday and I was diagnosed with cancer so I wanted my partner and I to have the trip of a lifetime while I could.
“I went into the shop in Warrington and bought this holiday which seemed perfect, we were so excited we even paid extra for a bungalow with wifi at extra cost.
“On the outbound flight, the flight was delayed four hours with no explanation, once we boarded the dirty plane we were given cold pasta and gravy [which was] inedible.
“The AC broke and dripped ice water on us for 14 hours and they forgot to load blankets so we froze.
‘She [cabin crew] Provided passengers with alcohol and no food to keep them happy, resulting in three separate drunk people incidents.
“It should be a Dreamliner that we fly, more of a nightmare.

Realizing the condition of the bungalow (right), the two immediately contacted a TUI representative. However, they claim the representative arrived just a day before they left Thailand, with a bowl of rotten fruit (right) and an offer of a free massage
“We had paid for a bungalow but were given a dirty room with mold and no garden terrace, we were told that the door to the terrace must be closed as it cannot be used when overgrown.
“We had no hot water, no WiFi and no air conditioning – the idyllic beach within 200 meters turned out to be a garbage dump and the bed linen was dirty and musty.
“We contacted TUI but they did nothing except offer a bowl of rotten fruit and offer a massage.
“TUI took my money and maybe ruined my last holiday.
“The bungalow stank of mold and had moisture issues whilst the hotel looked great and the staff were fantastic.
“If I had booked direct I would have gotten what I paid TUI for.”
MailOnline has asked TUI for a comment.
