Cristiano Ronaldo, the world’s most followed man, has remained silent on all fronts after Lionel Messi helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Messi led Argentina to the world title at the Lusail Stadium in Qatarbeat defending champions France 4-2 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw over 120 minutes.

Fans around the world are saying that the showdown between Argentina and France will take place on Sunday will go down in history as one of the greatest World Cup finals of all time. However, Ronaldo seems to have a different opinion.

Ronaldo – who has a total of 780million followers – has been silent on social media. He did not use Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to comment on the final. He also refrained from public congratulations his rival Messi.

Ronaldo failed in what was likely to be his last World Cup when Portugal lost 1-0 to Morocco in the quarter-finals of the tournament in Qatar.

Ronaldo broke his silence shortly after their game against Morcoo. He said on Instagram: “Winning a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career.

“Fortunately, I have won many titles of international importance, including Portugal, but putting our country’s name on the highest foot in the world has been my biggest dream.

“I fought for it. I fought hard for this dream. In the five World Cup appearances I’ve made in 16 years, always alongside great players and supported by millions of Portuguese; I gave everything. Leave out everything on the field. I have never turned to combat and I have never given up on that dream.
