CUNY law professor says school is run by “Marxist, far-left maniacs”.

A CUNY law professor, who has previously complained about the university’s alleged anti-Semitism, says the entire facility is run by a faculty of “far-left, Marxist lunatics.”
The comments come after a shocking opening speech on May 12 by pro-Palestinian law student Fatima Mousa Mohammed, who accused Israelis of “settler colonialism” and called for “anger” to crack down on the “fascist NYPD.”
It was the second year in a row that the school — one of the largest in New York City, which receives more than half of its funding from the government — allowed such pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel statements at the graduation ceremony.
The speaker in 2022 was activist Nerdeen Kiswani, who made similarly heated comments.
CUNY’s board of trustees finally condemned the speech in a statement today after mounting calls that the school should lose its funding.
It has yet to be explained why the comments were approved in the first place.
“Free speech is valuable but often messy and is critical to the foundation of higher education.” However, hate speech should not be confused with free speech and has no place on our campus or in our city, state or nation.

Fatima Mousa Mohammed was voted the 2023 Graduate Speaker of the Year by her classmates at CUNY Law’s graduation ceremony on May 12. Her comments about Israel, Palestine, the NYPD and the armed forces caused an uproar

The CUNY board of trustees today described the comments as hate speech after strong backlash
“The remarks made by a student-selected speaker at the CUNY Law School graduation ceremony unfortunately fall into the category of hate speech because they were a public expression of hatred toward people and communities based on their religion, race, or political affiliation.”
“The Board of Trustees of the City University of New York condemns such hate speech.”

Professor Jeffrey Lax, who has taught at CUNY for 20 years, told DailyMail.com in an interview that the entire school is run by “left-wing lunatics” and that someone must have endorsed the remarks
“This speech is particularly unacceptable at a ceremony celebrating the achievements of a wide variety of graduates and offends the entire CUNY community, which is founded on the principle of equal access and opportunity,” the board said.
Professor Jeffrey Lax, who has taught at CUNY for 20 years, told DailyMail.com in an interview that the entire school is run by “left-wing lunatics” and that someone must have endorsed the remarks.
“I’ve never heard of an opening speech not being reviewed [by staff].
“Of course you have to watch it, whether or not you think the student might say something inflammatory, you have to watch it first.”
He has complained about anti-Semitism in the past and says students have also confided in him that they fear alienation or even retribution if they don’t follow a tough, left-wing political ideology.
“The faculty are all lunatics.” “The incredible extreme left pushing for the end of America,” Professor Lax said.

CUNY’s 2023 operating budget inquiry found the university to receive $2.8 billion from the three tiers of government
For much of what he calls anti-Semitic rhetoric, he blames the Professional Staff Congress (PSC CUNY), the teachers’ union to which many teachers belong.
“The union is a Marxist organization and Marx was not just a communist… he was an anti-Judaist.”

CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez
“Sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish between what he said and what Hitler said.”
Professor Lax has complained of anti-Semitism in the past, particularly against the school’s takeover of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement – for which Fatima praised her in her remarks.
The movement “seeks to end international support for Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians and to pressure Israel to comply with international law.”
CUNY Law endorsed it last year, amid much controversy.
SAFE CUNY, an organization Lax is affiliated with, complained to state regulators and the school was investigated earlier this year.
The result of this investigation is still pending.
Professor Lax claims the last two years have been “hell on earth” for him, but he refuses to stop.
“I am the grandson of Holocaust survivors… I feel a deep and deep duty to fight this.” I will not walk away.
“I get complaints all the time about there being overt or outwardly Jewish kids that have come to me, but it’s not just that.”
“There are undoubtedly students who hide their position on politics,” he said.
CUNY has not yet responded to his criticism.
