Damar Hamlin: EA Sports “REMOVES CPR Touchdown Celebration from Madden NFL 23”

EA Sports “REMOVES CPR touchdown celebration from its Madden NFL 23 video game” following Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest – just days after Steelers players were criticized for performing it against Browns

EA Sports plans to remove a touchdown celebration in its Madden franchise that reportedly simulates a player’s CPR – following Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest.

The celebration will be removed by a new update that will be rolled out in the next few days TMZ.

That report came hours after it was announced that Hamlin was back in Buffalo and was rushed out of the Cincinnati hospital on Jan. 2.

Video game users could previously celebrate reaching the end zone by getting their players to mimic CPR. Dailymail.com have reached out to EA Sports to confirm this will no longer be the case.

Physicians at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center held a news conference Monday and revealed that Hamlin was released that morning and was safely back in Buffalo.

Hamlin released several tweets after that press conference, saying he would go to Buffalo General Hospital to continue testing and to be monitored.

“I drove home to Buffalo today with lots of love in my heart,” the security guard tweeted. “Seeing the world come together around me on Sunday was really an amazing feeling. The same love you all showed me is the same love I want to bring back into the world. Bigger than football!’

He later tweeted: “Grateful for the great care I have received at UCMC. I’m glad to be back in Buffalo. The doctors and nurses at Buffalo General have already made me feel right at home!’

“I can confirm that he is doing well and this is the beginning of the next phase of his recovery,” said Dr. UC’s William Knight in Monday’s press conference.

“We remain excited about his recovery,” added Dr. Added Timothy Pritts.

On Sunday, the entire NFL paid tribute to Hamlin — with teams painting the number three blue and red on their fields.

Other players also warmed up in jerseys that honored him with the words “Love for Damar.”

“When the opening kickoff played back, he jumped up and down, got out of his chair and, I think, turned off every alarm in the ICU,” Pritts told press.

EA’s decision reflects the controversy from the last game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns.

Last Sunday, Steelers players received backlash for celebrating a sack by having someone simulate CPR on Alex Highsmith.

Fans on social media saw the celebrations and criticized the “unprofessional and disgusting” team as Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field during Monday Night Football last week.
