Dan Burn celebrates his first goal in Newcastle by dancing wildly in the dressing room

Dan Burn celebrates his first Newcastle goal by dancing wildly in the dressing room after the Magpies reached their first domestic semi-final in 18 years as Eddie Howe claims the defender “moves well for a big man!”.

Dan Burn celebrated his first goal at Newcastle by showing off his hilarious dance moves in the dressing room.

Eddie Howe’s side beat Leicester City 2-0 in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, while the Magpies reached their first domestic cup semi-final in 18 years.

6ft 7in Burn opened the scoring after a dominant performance from Newcastle and scored his first goal in his 37th appearance for his boyhood club after joining them from Brighton last January – before Joelinton added a second.

And after the game, Sky Sports cameras broadcast from the Newcastle dressing room where Howe spoke to his players.

After praising the defender for his goal, Howe asked Burn to make a speech before his jubilant teammates asked him to “dance”.

Burn complied with the request and carried out a crazy routine that left his fellow Newcastle players in the lurch.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Burn’s dance, Howe explained the humorous moment and praised Burn for his moves.

He said: “I actually asked him to speak and he got up and danced.

“But when someone as popular as he is has a moment like that, I think it’s important that we all share it with him.

“He moves pretty well for a big man, doesn’t he?!”

Reflecting on the incident, Burn joked to Sky Sports: “The last time I did a dance like that I haven’t scored in two years. So I hope it won’t be like that again.’

Burn has excelled since arriving from the south coast 12 months ago, taking on an unfamiliar role at left-back this season.

He was part of the Premier League’s best defense alongside Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Kieran Trippier – with the quartet conceding just 11 goals in 18 games – while goalkeeper Nick Pope was also in superb form.

And Trippier, who also spoke to Sky Sports after the game, welcomed his fellow full-back and stressed how big Tuesday’s win was for the club.

He said: “Happy for Burny, he came close a couple of times but it was great for him to score at St James.”

“We knew this was important because we left the FA Cup, the lads were brilliant tonight.

“The fans here are brilliant, they follow us in large numbers and there’s always a great atmosphere at home. We want to make them proud by giving our all on the pitch.

“It would mean anything to win a trophy but we just have to focus on the next game, take it one game at a time and now we’re looking at the Premier League.”

Newcastle will learn their fate for the last four of the competition when Wednesday night’s semi-final draw takes place after Manchester City’s quarter-finals have been completed against Southampton.
